About the Business
Welcome to Danville National Cemetery, a serene and historic resting place dedicated to honoring the memory and service of our nation's veterans. Located at 1900 East Main Street, Danville, Illinois, our cemetery is an integral part of the VA Illiana Health Care System, steeped in rich history dating back to its establishment in 1898.
Danville National Cemetery offers a dignified resting place for veterans who have served our country with honor. We provide burial options for both casketed and cremated remains, ensuring that veterans, their spouses, and eligible family members have a peaceful final resting place. Our grounds are a testament to the sacrifices made by those who served, with monuments such as the Civil War Soldiers Monument standing proudly as a tribute to their bravery.
Our cemetery is part of the Veterans Legacy Memorial (VLM), a digital platform that allows families and loved ones to celebrate the lives of nearly 10 million veterans. Through VLM, you can post tributes, upload images, and share your veteran's military service timeline and achievements.
Visitors are welcome to explore the cemetery during our office hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except on federal holidays, with the exception of Memorial Day. We are conveniently located just 10 miles from the Vermilion County Airport, making it easy for visitors to pay their respects.
At Danville National Cemetery, we adhere to specific floral and decor guidelines to maintain the dignity and appearance of the grounds. We encourage the placement of natural cut flowers year-round and allow artificial flowers during certain periods. Seasonal adornments are also welcome from December 1 through January 20.
We kindly ask visitors to respect the cemetery's policies, including the prohibition of firearms and dangerous weapons on VA property. Our dedicated staff is here to assist families and ensure that the final resting place of their loved ones is preserved with the utmost respect and care.
For more information on eligibility, burial arrangements, and scheduled burials, please visit our website or contact our office. We are proud to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and we invite you to learn more about our rich history and the heroes interred here.
Danville National Cemetery is not just a place of rest; it is a place of remembrance, honoring those who have served and sacrificed for our country.

"Not the prettiest national cemetery, but it’s quiet and well kept."
"Visiting Grandpa on Memorial day is always beautiful and movinh"
"Clean peaceful place"
"It took several hours to find my cousin s grave marker. The machine that assists with finding names was broken. . And has been broken for weeks. I used the registration books in the box below the machine and the number it provided me was not correct. Henry Place is buried at CE 109 NOT at CE10. As I was with my 94 yr.old mother, this was so very annoying The day was hot and I was persistent to fulfill Mom's request to see the gravesite of her neice and her husband. Please update your book and better yet, fix your machine, thank you."
"Great Buriel service but grounds staff is and always been grouchy and rude. Had to stop visiting family graves being bothered a bunch and they get mad when you make them look like idiots."
