"It's really a shame, they say they help VETERANS but they don't.I just needed a little help but got denied.People shouldn't donate to this company. They don't help people in need."
"ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED! Shame on you Family Promise! Mike and Ray from Family Promise were assigned to help my sister and brother in law's case that are still homeless living on the street, since right after Christmas 2023. My sister is severely disabled she had a brain bleed that resulted into a stroke, she has diabetes and had to have most of her foot taken off, her memory is extremely terrible. She was once an intelligent insurance agent and a productive member of society in NJ for the majority of her life. Her husband had 2 heart attacks, COPD, nervous breakdown, kidney disease, diabetic with insulin dependent to top it all off we lost our family, not just my brother last year May 2022 our Mom this past August 2023. When it rains it really pours. My sister was evicted bc our Mom died, she came to stay with me for the Holidays, then she told me that she was homeless, to my surprise I did not know what to do but try to help them as much as I could, until my landlord intervened and made sure that they could not stay at my home, or I will be evicted. Ripping my heart out that this is occuring.I then introduced them to this organization the beginning of January 2024 and gave them every bit of info that they needed other than their birth certificates and marriage license, which they assisted them to recieve. Therefor it is now 7 days before March 1st which means they have been envolved for 2 months and have not offered them help to get them off the street. I think its disturbing, cruel where I want to throw up physically. I even tried to get them involved with Bridgeway, they told me that they have zero vouchers at this time. I explained to FPromise "Do you realize how cold it is outside? My sister is coughing really bad, she might have pnemonia, I'm afraid for her. I need to get her off the streets, theres only so much that I could do, or I will be on the street as well." I am sick with diabetes, heart issue, high blood pressure. I do not want to have a heart attack over this situation. I have 2 children and a wife, I love my sister and her husband more than anything, I just wish there was something that could be done. I can not believe at this time for 2 months your talking about January and Febuary of 2024 that there is still no funds to help them, which is totally rediculous to see why my sister and her husband have to deal with sleeping in a cold van, park benches, wherever they could lay their heads. Even Bridgeway talked to my brother in law the begining of Febuary and he was at his breaking point, crying his heart out, she told him rudely that they cant help him and theres no room for him there. I cant believe the treatment of them. I wish I knew the womans name so I could put it on BLAST. No one should be treated in this manner. I've gotten help from these places and was never treated in this manner, Danielle from Bridgeway was my case worker temp and there was a woman that used to work there for many years her name is Maria, she bent backwards and fought for your life. She now works with Hospice. I wish this message could be seen by someone important to make changes."
"Shame on you. You gave thousands of dollars to a mother whom the courts gave custody over to the other parent to bail out of rent. Other parents with real needs could have benefited from this as priority. Seems extremely bias."
"This organization needs to be investigating. Where is the funding going if not to qualified individuals. Class action lawsuit anyone!!"
"My initial experience was to help somebody and needed to contact this organization. That was probably over two years ago no one ever answered my call or my email. My second experience was to send a senior citizen who fell ill to cancer and had severe reactions to chemotherapy. She’s unable to work any longer. She is in an apartment where they’re raising her rent $50 a year. She cried to me and asked me how do I get into something affordable I’m lucky if my income is $24,000 a year. I called family promise they said to have her call and they would help her get into affordable housing not section 8 but something that would keep her with a roof over her head and help her. She did an initial call and waited after a week they called her back and said sorry we can’t help you you’re not in the street and you’re not behind in your rent . I am so sick and tired of these companies That parade around as nonprofits and get grants and donations and never offer help. This is just another one of those non profits that claims to help people. Where is the true helpers for our seniors or vets or homelessness? This company isn’t the answer for Sussex County. All this company had to do was assist her in filling out an application for affordable housing in New Jersey. They have links all over their website how hard is that? The woman has trouble now with her memory and everything that she does. However I will assist her. I’m not a nonprofit and I don’t get grant money but I will assist her. God help us with all these fake companies where are the true helpers? These nonprofits parade around just like the churches in this area, there is no real help."
