"Oh boy. Do not go here. Had a reservation for 3 weeks in advance for 15 passengers van for a family reunion weekend and when we got there to pick it up. Their representative "Sly" pulled what is called the "bait and switch" scam. Apparently, another representative misquoted us several hundred dollars less. After finding out, never once did they bother to call and let us know. There were even several conversations between the reservation and pick-up to confirm . When we got there, Sly made all sorts of excuses about how he was not able to honor the price quoted. By waiting until the last minute to let us know, it left us in a position of not being able to rent from anywhere else. Now, I don't know if there was a real mistake in the price or if this is a common theme around the highly in demand 15 passengers (which is why we reserved so far in advance). Either way, we should have been made aware in advance to make other arrangements, or they should have honor the reserved price. If we were made aware three weeks ago or during any of the previous conversations, more than likely, we would have paid. Mistakes happen and are understandable. It's the lack of accountability and the underhanded way it was covered up until the point of purchase that was just too much! He was unable to make any concessions that I was confident in. Empty promises about drop-off times and double contracts. Totally eroded my trust in that location. As well as my trust in the organization, I believe that if able to Sly would have honored the original price. But as he mentioned, I guess his superior was previously trying to cancel the reservation as it wasn't at the right rate and would not let him honor it. What a waste of time and unprofessional. Now my family, including my elderly parents, will drive to our family reunion in separate cars for 4 hours each way. It really isn't the money as I would have paid the difference but didn't feel comfortable giving my money to such a shady and unprofessional outfit. Thanks for making 8 hrs of the reunion a little less united. Poor form Avis, Poor form"
"My rental was for Dec 20th - Dec 23rd. The cost was $251.43. I returned the car 5 minutes late on the 23rd and I wrote the date and time I returned the car on the envelope. Now my AMEX is being charged $635.11. That is almost $300 for 5 minutes. I called the Mt Laurel NJ location where I dropped off the car and they said we have to charge for returning the car after they closed. They were still in the office when I used the drop box too. I feel the same way a previous customer who posted about their experience, this is theft."
"This was my first time renting a car. All my life my family only used Enterprise Rentals. I never heard of Avis or heard of anyone using Avis before, so I was a little skeptical. And honestly it was a really smooth process. I reserved and pre-paid for my car months in advance online for a road trip. The website was easy to use, and as it got closer to the pick-up date, Avis would send reminder emails about the details of my rental and pick-up location. On the day of, I walked into the rental car office, did the typical sign a document, give a credit card for security, and got the keys and left with a full tank of gas. Had no issues with the car the entire time I had it. When I returned it, All I had to do is return the keys. Had no issues, and there was nothing I can complain about. I have no choice but to give my experience 5 stars."
"I will start by saying that the car we rented and the local pickup/ drop off location were great. The car was almost new, very clean, and worked very well. The staff at the location was very helpful. However, I booked this rental online and prepaid. When I booked the rental online the site told me that drop off location had to be open to return the car. This was not accurate. Not knowing that, I booked the car for extra days that I actually did not need to ensure that we could return it during working hours. Because I booked online I was unable to change the reservation at the pickup when I found out I could return the car at any time. So i ended up spending a lot more for extra days that i didnt need. After returning the car I received an invoice via email. The invoice was less than I paid in advance. I prepaid expecting to get the best price. When I called Avis for a refund I was told it is against their policy to return any money prepaid. Since I received no goods or services for that extra money the only description I have left is theft."
