"I am a bit surprised at the other two reviews listed here. One sounds like there is definitely another side to the story and the other just sounds ridiculous. You can judge which is which. I have used Garrett Hillary several times for both buying and selling property. Don't let his youth deter you from working with him. I have found him to be thorough, professional and pleasant to work with. He takes this business seriously and keeps current of the many rules and regulations that go with buying and selling real estate. On the other hand, his wonderful personality takes the stress out of all of the details and paperwork. This young man is not only one of the youngest Real Estate agents in the county, but is a licensed hot-air balloon pilot, wedding officiant and great musician. If I could buy stock in a person, Garrett Hillary would be the one."

"I would never recommend this company, based on an experience with a broker that is employed by this company. Initially, Garrett Hillary seems like a wonderful individual until trying to conduct serious business. We had an accepted offer on a piece of property and we were promised by Mr. Hillary that he had certain items we requested in writing for the closing. Come the day of the closing no such document existed and the closing fell through because he lied about the existence of this document. The sellers also stated they never agreed to any of our requests, that Mr. Hillary assured us and our lawyers were not a problem. We are now in the process of going to court to get our 5k earnest money back. If Mr. Hillary had been upfront and honest with us and his sellers (he was acting as a dual agent), things would not have progressed to the point they did. We wasted a ton of time and money to have the wool pulled over our eyes. Adding further insult to injury, he point blank lied to us about another piece of property. After our offer on the home mentioned above had been accepted, we found another piece of property on Zillow we were very interested in. We wanted to have a contingency plan, in case something went astray, as it did. Mr. Hillary told us that the property was "a waste of time" and that it had no water or electric. Come to find out that the property was exactly what we were looking for, as we visited with another agent when our previous closing fell through. It had both water and electric. Furthermore, he had become the listing agent on the property a couple of weeks after we had made our initial inquiry. He had 2 months to rectify his boldface lies about the property, and never once did you bring the subject back up to us. Our current agent has had the worst time getting any type of communication from him about the property we are interested in. He does not communicate or answer emails, voicemails, or texts in a timely manner - if he even bothers to return the contact. Obtaining any type of information about the property has become like pulling teeth. It took him almost a week to get back about showing the property. Unfortunately, this property had an accepted offer the same day we were scheduled to look at it – with Mr. Hillary not saying a word to anyone until we wanted to make an offer. We currently have a backup offer in for this property, but the likelihood of us being able to purchase is unlikely as the sellers have the previously accepted offer. We could have been in our new home as I write this if only Mr. Hillary had utilized honesty and proper communication skills. His priorities are definitely elsewhere. This young man is clearly motivated completely by greed, not in the best interest of his clients. If you are a serious buyer or seller, do not use this agent. His integrity, honor, and communication skills are of no value to anyone."

"Stay away! LaVonne the owner had her renters plant 100 bill and open purse to see if we would steal. This is her version of a credit check. She did not like our offer because she wouldn’t get commission right away, so this was her way to make sure the deal would fail. I have filed a complaint with the ethics committee of the Illinois realtors. This lady should lose her license. What a horrible thing to have happen and it made us feel terrible. Becareful around this lady and her firm."
