Reviews
"Public servants should work toward making our communities better and work collaboratively with the citizens who elect them, vote, and pay taxes (pay their salaries). Instead the St. Louis County Board of Equalization was rude, condescending, combative, and vindictive. We asked for our house appraisal to be re-evaluated as they excluded from their appraisal our next door neighbors house and instead include a house that was hundreds of thousands of dollars more expense that was not in our neighborhood to justify their valuation increase. We submitted prior papers, valuations, and data - the board did not even take the time to review it. I ask them if they had reviewed it in our hearing and they said "we are pulling it up now" ... they did not even take the time to fake read it. So they gave a cursory review of our work, and then gave a smug smiled and raised our appraised value further. They refused to work collaboratively, to educate us on their decision to include a house in a different neighborhood that was 25% more expense than ours, and instead held up and notepad that we could not see and raised our property taxes further for appealing. St. Louis county raised assessments 15% and the board of equalization had to retrofit that justification to the property values. I hope we can find other board members in the future because the current group were not good representatives of our government, community, nor were they able to provide justification / reasoning for their decisions."
"Met with them today...rude and condescending. Board members won't let you finish your sentence, and talks over you. Smug, and made light of our ignorance, when we wanted to have them hear about how the tax assessor increased the value of our property nearly 20%. All burden of proof was on us, to counter the figures that the "computer" was showing them. Our objections were in vain, as there was 0 effort, on their part, to help us, the tax-payers, and 100% effort to thwart us. They decided to go with their "computer" data in the end, vs what we valued our property at. So, since we have such an inflated home value, it only makes sense for us to sell it for profit, and live somewhere else where our taxes aren't hiked 20% just because they looked at the average of the highest 5 home sales in the area."
"A completely useless entity."
