Kimmswick City Hall

"Forty years ago this "Kangaroo Court" gave me my first taste of small town justice. Having CLEARLY proven myself innocent, I was made to pay unbelievable fines for traffic violations. I was ticketed for speeding and failing to stop at a stop sign for which there was NO ordinance for even being there. The volunteer officer admitted on the stand that he was 2 blocks away with his back to the intersection changing a headlight. He stated he only saw the last 1/4 of my car leaving the intersection. No radar, no pace, no way of seeing if I stopped or not! I wasn't even the one that was pulled over! I back tracked to see what happened to my friend that was following me only to find him having been pulled over. When the officer found out I knew him, he told me I would be receiving tickets also. We were lost and it was VERY, VERY dark. Definitely not speeding. I was crawling trying to figure out how to get out of there and absolutely stopped at sign, again, for which there was no ordinance for. I was accompanied by a judge from Jefferson county who objected on my behalf for not even been given the "Right to Testify". He was told to "shut up and sit down" or he would be arrested. Looks "charming" in the picture. What I saw was a light bulb hanging from the ceiling and a few folding chairs. Felt like a cross between "Deliverance " and "My Cousin Vinnie ". I was working 3 jobs and attending college or I would have pursued to a higher court. Still very bitter after all these years. I may have paid for those Christmas decorations you see but have some doubts that my money even made it to the public fund."

"Every festival that is held in this town is a mess! Not enough parking. If you do find a parking spot you have to walk a mile to the festival. Then when you go to leave it takes forever to leave the area. Also every festival that they have they never have much of the item they are celebrating. If it is a strawberry festival there should be more strawberry stands than people selling non strawberry related items! If I see a festival in Kimmswick I will make sure i do not attend!"
