"94 Years Young and this Cultural Dynamo is a reminder of what the older generation can still teach us. As I listened to her singing I was suddenly struck by where Rap and Spoken Word Poetry must have gotten its roots... The Africana influence is all around us"
"Come to visit us Learn more about capeverdean people and culture"
"The Museum is a wonderful place to visit and to learn about the beautiful Cape Verdean Islands and people. Interesting artifacts and information on what the history is about."
"So Beautifully Rebuilt & Visitor Friendly...It's a place where you can stroll in any time with your kids, parents or friends and just walk around taking in the rich, beautiful (often historic/definitely funny), images of how the Creolo/MA/RI/Conn friendships began over 200 years ago... Biased but fair, I'm confident better parking is coming & I tip my hat to the Construction Team; Simply Outstanding!!"
"There’s a lot to experience in this small museum! I spent the afternoon here and learned so much about how immigration has shaped Rhode Island history and the relationship between New England and Africa and Portugal. That’s not something you really hear much about growing up in the state and going to the museums on the East Side. They have many, many photographs and maps and cool artifacts that tell the story of country of Cape Verde and the Cape Verdeans in the U.S. These are the sorts of stories of people of color that have been overlooked for so long in America, so it’s good to see a group making the effort to preserve their history for future generations. The staff there was really lovely too!"
