"Could not give a lower star review than one. Adelson has been a total nightmare to work with start to finish, with the finish still nowhere in sight. What started as an 8-10 week project has spiraled into 6 months. Adelson is not licensed as a Home Improvement Contractor or a Construction Supervisor in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. His contracts do not contain the information by the MA Attorney General. Here are some of the highlights of our time with Adelson: 1) Adelson’s guys put a wall in the wrong place on the first day, after Adelson and I had marked the correct spot on the floor, and then Adelson tied to convince me it was “better.” 2) Adelson left us without a washer dryer for 3 months, repeatedly missed deadlines for bringing it back with no explanation, and repeatedly dismissed the idea that this was a problem. 3) Adelson gave us less than 24 hours notice that we needed to sleep out of the house after spray foam was installed. He only told us after the town inspector made a point of talking about it in front of him. 4) Cigarette butts appeared all over our front and back yard. 5) Subcontractors were often scheduled to come at off hours, including on the weekends with little or no notice, without Adelson checking to see if the property was available, or if anyone was even home. 6) Adelson decided on his own to repair and salvage rather than replace our existing staircase even though he was contracted to fully replace it. This cut his costs but not ours, and left us with a poor quality staircase. 7) Adelson didn’t seem to be aware of basic code requirements for remodeling, including smoke detector and plumbing vent requirements. 8) Adelson wasn’t able to communicate in a timely manner with his subcontractors, resulting in numerous delays and “re-do’s.” 9) After 4 months on the job Adelson told us we couldn’t have the shower trim we’d bought, because he’d installed a different valve behind the tile without consulting us. 10) Every time the heat comes on it sounds like a gunshot, because Adelson didn’t leave expansion room for the heat pipes when installing the drywall. This list could go on endlessly. Adelson and his crew required constant supervision to catch their shortcuts and mistakes. He seemed more interested in the cosmetic appeal of his work than quality or long term durability. Avoid at all costs. Photos to be added. See below for Adelson’s official response. No accountability for any of his mistakes, just bullying, which has been his style the whole time. Don’t hire him. There are too many qualified contractors out there who can deliver on time, on budget, without making you the problem or themselves the heroes. Edit: 4/27/23 posting a video representing the quality of staircase built for this job. “Very nice stairs” should never squeak like this with every step. This isn’t normal. Or safe. Or nice. Edit: 12/28/23 less than a year later and screw are popping through the plasterboard all over the basement. See new pic, and notice how they aren’t event in a straight line? No wonder the board isn’t securely held in place. Edit 1/10/24: good contractors don’t cover up problems and wait for them to cause bigger problems. Couldn’t figure out why the basement was getting water when it rained. See photo, it’s because after installing a new frame wall, and before spray foaming, Adelson’s crew couldn’t take two seconds to patch a bit of eroded concrete. Today, I had to remove the drywall and foam finally to get at the issue, and even see what it was. Now I have to remove the bottom plate of the wall to actually patch the crack. This could have been accomplished easily by a qualified contractor who took pride in the long term health of his work. Edit 3/30/24: it’s been about a year since Adelson cashed his last check, but the remnants of his carelessness will linger for years. Updated with a a picture of the tile Adelson’s crew chipped, when they had to grind away a half inch of freshly installed tile to make room for the door trim, because Adelson couldn’t coordinate with his tile guy."
"I had Adelson and his team do a bath renovation for me recently. They were fairly priced (cheaper than competition) and did good work. All laborers were professional and cleaned up after completing their work. Quality of work was good and Adelson communicated any roadblocks to me promptly. I will be using Adelson for future projects."
"We used Jaragua to add walls to our office. Our landlords insisted that the walls look like they were part of the original structure. Jaragua was thorough and prompt. At any given time, they had a large crew working together so the work moved along. They gave painstaking attention to detail and cleaned up after themselves. Our landlords were so impressed at the quality of work and the reasonable price that they plan to use Jaragua for projects in the future."
"Adelson and Jaragua delivered a new apartment remodel for our rental property in a compressed timeline. When we learned our tenants would be moving out we had about six weeks before the Sept 1 rental start date. We hired Adelson to make some minor repairs as we didn't think there was time to do more. Adelson made a number of thoughtful suggestions for how to improve the apartment and committed to the timeline needed to make the Sept 1 rental deadline. We had used Adelson before in our own home so we went for it. We confined our choices to items that were in stock and Adelson and his crew were able to complete the demo and remodel (new kitchen, new bathroom, floors refinished, laundry room upgraded, cabinets, lighting). There was a couple of days delay for the floor refinishing, but the job was completed on budget and on time. We also came to appreciate Adelson's wise suggestions on how to rework the kitchen layout and to upgrade the lighting, etc. The apartment came out great."
"Adelson and his team are amazing to work with! They completely renovated our basement for us! They did an amazing job, were on time, professional and so very responsive. I cannot recommend them enough!! Will have them back for any project !"
