To reserve your event space, please contact the Arcata Recreation Division Office at 707-822-7091. A completed Arcata Community Center Use Permit (PDF) must be submitted at least four weeks before your event date, along with a facility use deposit to secure your booking. Please note that insurance is required for all building rentals.
We offer competitive deposit rates, with a $500 deposit for general building rentals and a $1,600 deposit for concert rentals. Deposits are refundable if there are no damages and the facility is left clean. In the event of a cancellation less than three months prior, the deposit will not be refunded. However, if we can rebook the facility, half of the deposit will be returned.
Rental fees are due 30 days prior to your event, and the all-day rate covers the hours from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m., including cleanup. Requests for extended hours are subject to city approval and may incur additional costs. Any changes to the Facility Use Permit made less than 30 days before the event require city approval and may involve extra charges. All changes must be submitted in writing.
Non-profit organizations can benefit from a 20% discount, provided they supply their federal tax-exempt identification number and ensure that 100% of the event proceeds benefit the renting agency. School districts within Arcata must have joint use agreements on file to receive discounts. Please note, discounts do not apply to the concert rate or actual labor costs for event preparation.
For commercial events, such as sales meetings and business training, we offer a non-subsidized commercial rate to ensure a successful and professional gathering.
Our dedicated Recreation Division staff will be on hand to assist with the setup and takedown of city-owned equipment, including tables, chairs, stages, and audio/visual gear, ensuring your event runs smoothly from start to finish.

Reviews
"Excellent staff, friendly people and fun ping pong play!"
"This place is a gem . I wish every town had something like this. They allow van-lifers/ car camper/ homeless, people to park in the lots and have a port-a-potty. I stayed here for a few days and the community was chill. There are electric vehicle charging stations available as well. Someone here claimed that there are "tweakers" everywhere and that it's a sketchy place . Not my experience at all. Everyone minding their own business here"
"This Community Center may be the most successful and useful thing Arcata has ever pulled together. 40 years ago it was a dairy field full of cows. Now it presents a spacious and modern Community Hall with good parking and thoughtful layout. The access by car, bicycle or on foot is about as good as it gets. The ballparks, soccer fields and greens are well kept and it has an excellent kids playground with climbing wall. The seniors get fed here and the venue can support almost any group."
"Excellent community center in Arcata with catering kitchen, nice restrooms, ADA parking and nearby park. Also serves as sporting arena. Fun large event space."
"While the inside may be nice and the facilities up to par, the surrounding grounds and parking lot have become grounds for all types of seedy folk. Homeless tents are everywhere, trash is strewn about near the softball field, and my friend and I nearly had to break up a fight between two scumbags near the outdoor basketball court. It didn't use to be that way. My friends and I started coming to Healthsport back in 2012 and it was a nice place to go and workout. I'm not so sure anymore."
