Mad River Rapids RV Park

"A wonderful gem to stay at while in Humboldt County. Conveniently located off the 101, within walking distance to a few restaurants and shopping, and a very short drive to one of most magical beaches in all of California, the Mad River Rapids RV park has consistently provided a great experience every time. I typically stay a night or two a few times throughout the year in my 36' rig and have never had an issue. The park is incredibly quiet and clean. Staff cares about your experience and works hard to maintain a pleasant environment. Many who stay have pets, including myself, but - by and large - everyone cleans up after themselves and there is not excessive barking. I really appreciate the laundry room, which was upgraded last year, as it is a bargain compared to local laundromats. The Good Sam discount was discontinued a few months ago, but front office check in is very effortless and pricing is competitive to other facilities. As someone who often travels solo, this is one of the very few places that I consistently feel safe. Other reviews mention long-term renters, but that is a very small portion of those who stay and it seems like many of those residents work. You don't see bad behavior, or hear loud music. Overall, this is one my favorite rv parks I've stayed at because it is such a consistent experience. Kudos to management and staff for working so hard to maintain the property and equitably enforce rules to ensure everyone can enjoy their experience!"

"I don’t often leave reviews but what happened at this park made me pleased read. We thought we would try a private park for once and not the main stream parks well this is how it goes, a very warm welcome at the office and staff where great good start we had a 50amp site as there only site with 50amp are back in I was towing and seen a lot of pull throughs so I asked if we could change the staff said they are only 30amp so we stayed with backin sites power could do with a small update not a deal breaker this is where it all gets interesting the map is just a map no site rules which is fine and we got all setup on our site and since we had been on the road for 2 weeks driving from Florida I decided to wash my tow vehicle when this happened!!!!! I was approached by not the staff but a angry Karen tenant with a passenger in her vehicle they stopped at our site and rolled down the window with no introduction and said you can’t wash you vehicle here there’s a car was down the road I said sorry I didn’t know and I proceeded to wash as I was almost done angry Karen just sat there watching me from her car and then said aren’t you going to follow our rules!!!! Firstly the map and information I was given did not state I could not wash my vehicle!!! Angry Karen still giving me a dirty look was rudely sitting at our site I asked her to move on as I didn’t need her attention or attitude with this I thought I would take a walk around the nice park that was very wet at the time yes the lawns are long but it’s been so wet in California I was not to worried but it does need some work at each site, the park management needs to enforce a clean rule asap for the long term tenants once a year the site needs to be vacated for site maintenance and cleaning and this also gives the tenants the opportunity to clean there own equipment or have it cleaned professionally please see attached pictures WOW amongst the pictures is angry Karen’s mold covered moss covered trailer to no surprise there where many trailers that need repair or just cleaning some covered in traps which maybe from the heavy rain understandable but should be fixed this park is beautiful but let down by poor tenants equipment and park management not enforcing what needs to be a clean policy this park is still asking $80 per night like other more common parks but with a discount at the time of check in for this month which was nice but for the price it could do with some important work around the park the reason for the 1 star is that your tenants need to mind there own business and not approach guest with a rude attitude or attacking manner 1 star for park site cleanliness due to tenants equipment 4 star for the welcome at the office please park management you have a beautiful park that this review as a courtesy to clean your park tenants up and this park could make you some excellent money and become a hot spot for others to visit"

"Super friendly staff! We showed up with no reservation, and were accommodated immediately. Clerk (Bryan?) was very helpful. Beautiful lay out and really quiet. All previous negative reviews are wrong, this is your place RVers! Thank you!!"

"What a nice park right off the 101. Clean sites that are level and paved. Clean bathrooms. We arrived a few minutes after the office closed but the gal in the office opened up and gave us the codes for the bathroom and laundry. They do have easy check in after hours but still we appreciated her assistance. They have a little mini mart which is handy. And a pretty decent Mexican restaurant right next door. We will definitely stay here again."
