"Interesting tour only given on Saturdays at 10:30. No tickets required, first come first serve basis. Any history buff would appreciate the efforts of this volunteer driven preservation. It just so happened to work out, since we were late for the Lighthouse tour that is a road over. We made the Lighthouse tour on the Sunday. What a wonderful way to spend a weekend!"
"Super Cool! If you are fan of cold war history, old naval bases, SOSUS, the book Blind Mans Bluff or like abandoned buildings then this is the tour for you! They are only opened on Saturdays, tours can only be booked first come first serve. I arrived around 10:15 this morning for the tour and they were letting in cars up until 10:30. We were a larger group so they split us up into two groups of about ten and took us around the facility. As Dennis our tour guide put it, it is a walking tour around old decrepit Navy buildings and he was absolutely right. For safety reasons, the tours do not go into any of the buildings but you are able to look into the windows and doorways. Our group had a sailor that was stationed there in the 60's so they actually let a few of us go into the enlisted barracks and look around, which was really cool. The tour took about 90 minutes and went to several different parts of the base. There are no formal restrooms only port-a-pottys. There is no beach access and you do not get a tour of the lighthouse with this tour. The tour costs $10 per person and there is a gift shop for some cool merchandise. Only request of them is that they get a challenge coin in the future! The old admin building is where the gift shop is located and has different exhibits in a few of the rooms to view."
"My family saw a poster for this base and thought it would be really cool. We got there early and there are limited parking spaces. We explored the welcoming office and their gift shop. Soon our tour began our tour guide gave us a tour of the entire (small) base and it was very interesting. My entire family loved it. I suggest you go there before looking at my pictures but if you can’t, please enjoy them."
"Most won't know that once you pass the retired naval facility and Point Sur Lighthouse the weather heading south begins to feel like SoCal weather. Locals will claim the phenomena is felt more distinctly a couple of miles further south at Molera."
"Couldn't really give an honest review of the facility as it's currently under renovation to some extent. I don't know what exactly they are doing but I can tell you that it's requiring some BIG equipment. I transport heavy equipment for a living and was dispatched to pick up a piece of equipment we had out there. The one thing I will state unequivocally is the drive to the location is absolutely amazing and wish I could have taken more photos but trying to safely navigate through the hills and turns there and take photos of the scenery is difficult and necessitates stopping to do so. The scenery is worth the effort to drive out it isn't equalled anywhere as it's a very unique location and has a beauty all its own!"
