"Avoid renting property listed by David Stewart (the property manager and local realtor). There are plenty of other property managers offering similar listings with reasonable cancellation policies. In December of 2021 I signed a VRBO agreement to rent VRBO # 1962478 and paid the $6,600 deposit. In March 2022, upon contacting David Stewart regarding cancellation, he advised that even with seven months of notice he was not obligated to offer a refund. Shame on me – I should have read the fine print. Mr. Stewart did offer to put the listing back on VRBO and if someone else rented the home during my rental period – only then would I receive a refund. In September 2022, Ian a category 4 hurricane, decimated Naples and closed all beaches which obviously deterred anyone from booking. Surely, Mr. Stewart would return my deposit – he declined, informing me that “Naples was fine and I was misinformed”….. One would think seven months of notice and a major hurricane would warrant a refund, but not in Mr. Stewart’s opinion. If I were looking to rent or purchase any property, I would not deal with any person that chooses to handle their business this way. I have never written a bad review but felt it necessary to warn other potential buyers and renters to carefully consider who you do business with. There are plenty of honorable people on VRBO – make sure you read the contract."
