Our story began in 1935 with Joe’s mother and stepfather, Sophia and Florentino De La O, who opened La Oriental Grocery & Bakery. Today, Joe’s Bakery & Coffee Shop continues this rich legacy, offering a warm, welcoming atmosphere and a delicious array of traditional and contemporary dishes.

Our menu is a testament to our dedication to quality and flavor, featuring mouthwatering selections like scrambled eggs with ranchero sauce, hearty pork carne guisada, and savory grilled chicken quesadillas, all served with our signature sides. Each dish reflects our commitment to culinary excellence and our passion for providing a delightful dining experience.

Due to our cozy space and popularity, especially on weekends, we kindly ask our guests to wait outside for their tables. We offer a covered patio with seating and a water station for your comfort. Please anticipate a wait time of 25 to 45 minutes after 9:30 a.m. on weekends, with larger parties or special requests potentially extending this time. For groups larger than eight, we recommend planning separate visits, as we strive to provide the best service for all our guests.

As a small business navigating rising costs, we have implemented a 3% packaging fee on all dine-in and take-out orders to maintain our menu prices. An 18% gratuity is automatically added to parties larger than five and on large take-out orders.

We are grateful for the continued support of our loyal customers and are honored to serve generations of families in Austin. While we have currently suspended curbside service, we welcome you to check in with our take-out server upon arrival for all orders placed before 1:45 p.m.
