"I am so glad I found this studio. It really is a hidden gem. The day before I was set to visit the area, I was experiencing excruciating lower back and sciatic nerve pain. That evening, I searched for a place in the area where I could get a prenatal massage at a time that was convenient to when I was visiting. Amazingly, I found Elm & Serenity and saw that Irwyn had an opening today at the perfect time. I conveniently booked it online just before midnight last night, and they were ready for my arrival this afternoon. This studio is small, but it is clean and cozy. It had a perfect atmosphere for relaxation. The sheets were clean and smelled nice. Most importantly, their set-up for the prenatal massage was great. I was perfectly positioned on my sides with 7 different pillows/wedges for support. Being a larger person to begin with, in addition to being 35 weeks pregnant, I was definitely worried about whether I would be able to fit comfortably on a massage table, but I was pleasantly surprised to see their massage bed could accommodate me perfectly. Upon arrival, I was pleasantly greeted by the receptionist. My massuer, Irwyn, was quick to take me into a massage room, and he took time to discuss my needs and expectations for this visit. He had already prepared and was familiar with the patient forms I filled out when booking the appointment last night. It definitely helped the experience feel more personal. I haven't had that many massages in the past, and each of them were with female masseuses, so I was a bit nervous. However, Irwyn made me feel very comfortable, and he did a great job tailoring the massage to my needs and preferences. He used a variety of different pressures, strokes, and techniques, many of which I have never experienced before. He was also very considerate in his words and actions. I felt that he took extra precautions to preserve my modesty. He adjusted my sheets to help me stay covered and asked for permission before massaging my glutes (to address the sciatica I was experiencing). His knowledge and skills are definitely greater than the masseuses I saw in the past, and I have honestly never felt better after a massage. When I sat up and got down from the table, I felt no pain whatsoever in that moment. Later, some of it began to return again, but it is a lot more tolerable, and my range of motion is much better than before. I would highly recommend Irwyn at Elm & Serenity to anyone looking for a prenatal massage from a skilled and thoughtful massuer. Even though I live over an hour away, I definitely plan to return here when I need a massage in the future. :)"
