"We just spent a wonderful afternoon doing complete makeovers at Ash Salon. What a marvelous experience! Ash and Aziz are job in their field, super professional and perfectionist. By far best color and cuts in Northern Virginia. Highly recommend."
"Made an appointment online for 6:15 to see a woman stylist, they asked me to wait an extra 15 minutes so they could finish with another guest. Sure, no problem. However they did not get to me until 6:45 and it was a man instead of a woman as I requested. He barely spent any time on the consultation. He went to the bathroom in the middle of washing my hair (which was more of a rinse than an actual wash), then was quite rough with it and it came out completely uneven. He was also asking me inappropriate questions like if I was married or not. And by the way, the booking website states that a women’s haircut is $65, but I was charged $75 because I had longer hair (nowhere on the website says that the haircut STARTS at $65). You would have a better experience at Great Clips than here."
"Ash is a great stylist and has given me some of the best cuts olive ever had. I've certainly received more compliments on my hair than ever before. Needless to say I'll be seeing Ash again for my next hair cut!"
"I've been seeing Ash for almost 20 years now and can't say enough great things about him and his salon. I even moved 90 minutes away a year ago and still travel to Tysons to get my haircut. Ash does amazing work and has a top-notch salon. I highly recommend him!"
"Note, this review is for a visit a couple weeks ago. 1. Online booking This was super easy to schedule and the prices were displayed $65 for a haircut. Ash the owner was my stylist. 2. Checking In No one was at the reception desk and a hairstylist had to stop her appointment to check me in. It seemed like maybe they were short staffed for the day because of illness so that wasn’t a huge deal. 3. Haircut Honestly, Ash didn’t seem to have the greatest attitude that day. He was a bit curt and not talkative—I don’t need my stylist to be super outgoing but some thoughtful interaction and interest does wonders for people who are nervous for haircuts. The consultation was like 30 seconds. I wanted to cut my waist length hair to a medium length with long layers. I showed him some pictures and tried to demonstrate where I wanted the layers to be. It didn’t seem like he was paying attention—merely saw that I wanted it cut shorter and in layers. I would have like a longer discussion but again his attitude did not make me feel comfortable enough to voice this—not helpful at all. Then super quick he just started cutting hair! No explanation of “hey I’m going to do some rough cuts before we shampoo to make this easier”. After shampoo and during the cut, he was pretty silent. Additionally, multiple times he had to stop my cut and answer phone calls (which I assume could have been prevented if he had a receptionist). Then, he complained about the people calling— unprofessional. For the cuts, I tried to make sure he knew I wanted long layers and the shortest to end at my chin. It wasn’t until he blow dried everything that I realized it didn’t line up with what I wanted. During the blow dry, he made too hot and too close to the scalp too many times even through I flinched and complained. And before I realized how he was styling my hair, he already had like 4 hair curlers for max volume. Not at all what I wanted since I like to blow dry straight to check the layers. When the blow dry was done—I wanted to cry. The hair was way to short and full volume—the look aged me so much. It was less of a twenty-something fun and flirty cut and more a 70s full volume that made me look so much older. When I went to pay, it was $75 not $65. At this point I just wanted to get out and leave so I paid it. Note, the prices are different from the website so double check. About 3 weeks later, I don’t hate my hair but don’t love it. It’s too short, the layers are somehow not long layers and yet the shortest one wasn’t chin length like I asked. I realize that some of these issues could have been avoided if I spoke up. That isn’t easy especially when your stylist is grumpy and broadcasting unhappy vibes. All in all, it was not a great haircut and experience. However, hair does grow back :) I likely would not use Ash again for a haircut. I’d like to think on a different day with a different stylist (or even the same stylist with a better attitude) my experience would have been a five star one."
