The New York State Police is renowned for its specialized units, including the Underwater Recovery Team, the oldest public safety dive team in the United States. Our Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), established in 1935, is the plainclothes detective branch with over 1,000 investigative personnel, working tirelessly to solve crimes and bring justice to our communities.

Our mission extends beyond law enforcement; we engage in traffic enforcement and education to ensure the safety of all road users. Each day, our troopers are on the front lines, from traditional patrol duties to responding to 911 calls, inspiring and supporting our agency and the communities we serve.
