"One of the worst places I've ever worked for. You are constantly understaffed and are at a ratio of 2 cna's per 40- 50 residents so they can never get proper care. There are call ins every day. Some of the nurses are extremely rude and refuse to help cna's because they think they're above doing a cna's job. The place is very poorly run. The turn over rate of cna's is insane. I took a class in July and only about two people are left out of the six I had class with. I watched one girl not even last a shift because the nurses were being mean to her and talking so poorly about her , she left sobbing. Nothing about this is ever done though. I wouldn't recommend sending your family or having your loved one work here."
"My father went to Maplewood for rehab on 4/6 and is still there. He was first put in Room 210 in acute care dementia wing as a holding spot to move to rehab wing the following Tuesday. Come to find out, he couldn’t move until Thursday due to an oversight. While in Birch, he was never showered or thoroughly washed up each day/ night, no one came when he pushed help button so often had accidents so they put him in a diaper without consent. He sat in a wet diaper all night until 9:30 AM when his wife helped him clean up and change ! Also, he did not have several meals brought to him because “ someone told the staff that family would be bringing all meals! “ Not one of us said anything about bringing in all his food. The food was quite disgusting and often raw! I was finally able to get my father a shower on Wednesday night before he moved to Beech on Thursday- thanks to a hard worker named Lily! She was upset no one had washed him up or showered him at all during the week he was there. One day, I was with my father from 9 AM until 6:30 pm then my sister came to visit as well. During that time, an older women was seated on the couch outside my father’s room with just her nightshirt on. She sat there the entire time while the aides and nurses walked by her without even acknowledging her. She was never taken to eat any meals, did not go to the bathroom and did not move from that seat until an aide came around 7 and told her it was time for bed! She had no care at all that day and was just being put back into bed. I asked the nurse about it and she said she’d look into it. Nothing happened. Thus far, at Beech, my father was brought to meals very late 4 x and nothing was left for him to eat. They have “ run out” of the menu item my father ordered for either breakfast or dinner 3 x while he sat for over an hour waiting to be served. My father’s PT/ OT services are minimal for a man who needs help getting back home. I am disgusted with the rudeness, lack of care, laziness and plain neglect at Maplewood. It’s shameful! Do better!!"
"Excellent place to work or place your loved one. I'm a former employee. The staff is kind and empathetic. I miss them & my former patients a lot & only quit because I moved 4h away. I personally worked in the North Wing. The environment there is very warm & homey, featuring a waterfall mural & miniature bird aviaries. The staff also hosts regular community outings & activities :)"
"My grandmother witnessed an aide and kitchen staff member abusing a 90 year old woman on September 9th 2022."
"They deserve a minus! I was there once and care was just ok...no empathy. My husband was there for his rehab BUT they were not caring. They put diapers on him without his consent. He was so upset.I cried. Staff needs empthatic training. He finally was able to move to St Joseph’s where he was so happy he wanted us to move there"
