"This is a must visit place while you are in NY’s North Country. It’s located in the downtown Canton and an excellent place to learn about the history and culture of the region. It has cool exhibits, children's attic, research facility, great collections and cute little gift shop (something for everyone). They also conduct different indoor/outdoor programs on history and other related subjects. You can be a member easily and enjoy the quarterly editions, research facility and many other cool things. The staffs are knowledgeable; enthusiast and working towards making this place a hub for history and culture in the region."
"What a fabulous find! The staff bends over backwards to help those looking for genealogical information."
"Wonderful museum with many displays about our history. I enjoyed the exhibit on Major General Newton Martin Curtis, St Lawrence County and Ogdensburg's greatest hero. He personally led the attack on the Confederacy's last remaining seaport He and his men were given the job of running up to Fort Fisher's wooden palisade wall and chopping a hole through it. Despite a constant barrage of gun fire from the defenders, he led his 142nf Infantry regiment and others into the fort. He was shot several times, lost an eye but won the Medal of Honor which is on display at the museum in Canton."
"We really enjoyed the historic tour. I went with my son as part of a school trip and found it absolutely fascinating! There is so much to learn. My favorite part was the corridor with pictures. It really puts the history of Canton in a new perspective. Great job! We will be back!"
"I enjoyed my trip to Upstate New York and learned a lot about the area from the helpful staff at this place. So many interesting things to look at here."
