"I am very happy and grateful for finding Still Mountain and the very experienced, Dr. David Clippenger who has honed his expertise studying under a number of Qi Gong and T'ai Chi Chinese Masters as well as during his Ch'an monastic training. He is also a Ch'an Teacher of Buddhism. That is to say, he is the real deal and certainly the most qualified teacher I have found in the Pittsburgh region to teach any of these practices. This, of course, is a great boon for his students. David is also unpretentious and has a calm and playful presence, all signs of a great teacher! Under his guidance, I have regained the full use of my shoulders which have had rotator cuff injuries for 10 years. The gentle, subtle repeating motions of Qi Gong have brought me renewed energy and well being. Classes are offered in person and on-line with an extensive library of programs one can do between classes."
"I have been taking T'ai Chi and Qigong instructions from David for nearly 2 years...both in-person classes and virtually, and am rewarded with my experiences each and every class or repetitious practice session. I'm learning that it's so much more than a physical exercise, it's the learning of a new mindful approach to everyday living. The camaraderie of the students is infectious and breeds our confidence as we try in our attempts to learn new movements with often feeble first attempts. And I will conclude by saying that often the most enlightening and sometimes most humorous moments are when David shares practical applications of the day's lesson or remembrances of his times of tutelage under the guidance of some of the great masters of T'ai Chi. I highly recommend anyone interested in exploring the art and craft of T'ai Chi to contact David at Still Mountain."
"I have been studying at Still Mountain T'ai Chi for more than 14 years. David is a wonderful teacher with an impeccable lineage. He has studied with grandmasters and with the families who developed original T'ai Chi Chuan and Qigong forms. He brings that knowledge to class with his unique blend of humor and kindness. I was initially interested in T'ai Chi for its meditative and spiritual aspects, but I’ve found that it’s been a tremendous help to me physically. My balance, flexibility and coordination are much better, and I feel much more aware of my body and health. Practicing T'ai Chi has given me a sense of tranquility and has also been energizing and fun. David makes T'ai Chi entertaining and approachable and is a great teacher for beginners as well as advanced practitioners."
"I have studied Tai Chi and Qigong with David for about 8 years. He is extremely knowledgeable, having studied with Masters and Grandmasters all over the world. He teaches in a manner that considers each student's starting point and helps them work toward their individual goals, whether their goals are to improve overall health, relieve stress, or dive deep into a martial art. David makes each of these things accessible, and I highly recommend studying with him."
"David is a wonderfully knowledgeable instructor. In two years I have learned a variety of Tai Chi forms. I started his online class during the pandemic. I'm happy he's keeping some classes online because I live 8hrs away from Pittsburgh. If I lived nearby I'd definitely do the in person classes."
