NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull Emergency Room

"If I could give this hospital zero stars, I would. I arrived by ambulance with severe pain in my lower left abdomen and could barely walk. Despite my condition, I had to wait over two hours in the ER. When I finally saw the doctor, they dismissed my symptoms as 'probably gas' without taking into account my family history of IBS and Crohn's disease. No pain relief was offered, and there were even fights happening around me. The nurses were nowhere to be found, the facility was dirty, and the staff was incredibly rude. I do not recommend this hospital and will never return."

"E R waiting is over eight hours. The staffs are very rude and lazy. In fact it’s a place to get more sick. I will never recommend my enemies to go there. Disappointment should’ve been the name of this hospital instead."

"I am on the hospital since 1 pm for my cousin ,he has annemia ,stomach pain and other ,i am in the emergency room ,they take blood pressure after that nothing . I still ask for help no one coming to see us ,it's 8.52 pm"

"I was rather pleased with my experience at Woodhull this evening. After hearing varied stories and reading bad reviews I didn’t know what to expect but had been to the lobby before so knew it was a clean hospital. The main waiting room is basic but the triage room is very nice with comfy recliner lounge seats, so waiting was a relaxing experience. Everyone from the intake coordinator & intake nurse, to the Security Guards were pleasant and very helpful. The caveat was my PHYSICIAN’S ASSISTANT, Typhanie, and the Resident on duty with her. They were so patient, skilled and sweet!! They took their time and explained everything that was happening and treatments for my injury. I happened to luck out and be there on a not too busy Monday. In and out was several hours as expected of an ER, but I was attended to often enough that it didn’t seem that long. It’s a NYC Health & Hospitals location so if you don’t have insurance they work it out with you. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I won’t be hesitant about coming to Wooodhull again!!! The NYC Health & Hospitals are one of the well organized systems in this Metropolis."

"Come alive to this ER- you might wound up dead. Seriously. A friend of a friend died here after hemorrhaging. The medical team was far too slow to treat her and she passed away and the very young age of 22. In addition, my friend who was pregnant came here and had an ultrasound, only to be told that her baby had NO HEARTBEAT and was SENT HOME. She then returned with pain and bleeding and wasn’t attended or given meds for 6 hours in the ER. She was on the floor vomiting and writhing in pain. Finally, after 24 hours she released the fetus, was treated, and sent home. I’ve personally witnessed the incompetence, unprofessionalism, and miscommunication between personnel here. There is no real love and care for patients. I think everyone has become desensitized to death and suffering because of all the police activity here, the homelessness and mental health illnesses- not sure. Either way, do not come to this ER if you have a medical emergency. You’re better off at nearby Wyckoff hospital. Or ANY OTHER HOSPITAL honestly."
