"Protohaven gives back to the community in the form of a free mini pantry box out front. Anyone in the community can take from or donate to the box, with plenty of free groceries and sometimes toiletries. While I’m not a user of the maker space, I’m a donor to the box and love to see it being used by members of the community. Thank you Protohaven for showing so much love to your neighborhood. ❤️"
"I've been a member of Protohaven since it opened about six years ago. It has grown a lot and has tools for just about anything that you could possibly want to make. The members are a lot of fun to be around and I have found it to be a great environment where people are always willing to talk about ways to accomplish projects. If you are a hobbyist looking for a cheap way to get started making things or are just looking for bigger and better tools than you personally own then this is a great place to join. There are also plenty of people who earn their living in part or in whole by making things at Protohaven. As best as I am aware, you can drop in any time that it is open to take a tour to see if what Protohaven offers fits your needs."
"It’s Pittsburgh's largest makerspace and school for design and fabrication². The staff and volunteer are friendly, inviting and helpful, and the instructors are very knowledgeable and skilled. Learn how to use various tools and equipment, such as lasers, CNC routers, all things woodshop related, 3D printers, blacksmithing, welding, and more. It’s an opportunity to meet amazing fellow makers who share the same passion and creativity. Protohaven is a great place to learn, grow, start a business, or just to hang out with a community excited to make new things. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to explore their creative potential!"
"Great non-profit Maker space now in its 5th year, available to the public. Not sure how to make something? Plenty of folks on hand to help you turn an idea into a concrete product. Classes are hands-on and project-oriented. Instructors have deep practical knowledge. There's a complete woodshop, metal shop, blacksmithing, jewelry, large-format lasers for etching and cutting a variety of materials. An electronics area, three 3D filament printers, a graphic arts area for printing, vinyl cutting and making tee shirts and coffee mugs with a sublimation printer. An industrial and commercial sewing area including CNC embroidery. Monthly membership and class pricing is reasonable with a variety of options. The shop is run by volunteer members. Staff are friendly and helpful."
"Maker space with a community of industrial, tech savvy, artistic, hobbyists, and entrepreneurs. The most important aspect, aside from having every tool at your disposal, is the people"
