"Absolutely horrible. Visited this office May 9, 2024. I was told how much my passport would cost, I paid said amount. On July 12 Pica I reached out and said they cannot process my passport due to outstanding balance. I paid the outstanding balance July 15 and today I am being told - they have not yet received the check for my passport to be processed. I have travelled planned in Sept. I am livid. This makes no sense. Horrible service!!! This is such an inconvenience and this would have been avoided if they told me the correct amount. Now PICA cannot proceed and I cannot figure out a way to get my passport without the consult. Where is the money I paid? Why is it taking weeks to send to Jamaica? I’ve called several times and NO ONE answers!! What the hell are you guys doing?"
"I have submitted documents from March 2024 to renew my passport and it’s now August 2024 and my passport still not renewed. They sent mail that they needed more information took my number and email and when trying to get a hold of them it’s a nightmare. The consulate doesn’t have an option to get directly to the passport department and when you do asked to be transferred to the passport department it’s voicemail. I’ve left so many messages and urgent ones too and they still haven’t called me back. When I spoke to someone in the accounts department they told me they can’t find the photos I’ve submitted, the number they have in the system for me is incorrect. The money order they wanted to renew the passport is $110 and when I do they asking for more money. I sent no money and still can’t get a response from them. It’s a damn shame to think these people are here in foreign country to make the citizens of Jamaica live easier and it’s impossible to get on the phone with them. If I was in Jamaica my passport would have been renewed months ago."
"The office is beautiful, the staff was professional. I went into the office on Thursday 6/4/2024. My passport was ready on 7/25/2024. That's about 7 weeks, which is must faster than the 13 weeks listed on the website. I let them know during my application that i had a pre-planned trip in August. I'm very happy with the service. Thank you my fellow Jamaicans! However, if you are able i would recommend going back home to do a same-day passport application."
"I had high hopes for Jamaica consulate of New York ], but unfortunately, my experience fell far short of expectations. From start to finish, it was a series of disappointments. Firstly,I was informed that a new passport would only take 6-8 weeks. This set the tone for the entire experience .It has been 2 months and I’ve been calling everyday since the 8 weeks with no answer The staff/management/team seemed completely unaware about my situation which was frustrating and reflected poorly on their professionalism. The overall performance was very bad and did not inspire confidence. Furthermore, the only time I did speak to someone they had my middle name incorrect. It was clear that the staff pays little to no attention to the documents creating recurring problems or consistent shortcomings. It's disappointing because the passport office in Jamaica provides same day passports so we should not be enduring these problems for this long. In conclusion, I would not recommend place/service based on my experience. There are much better options available elsewhere that provide more information and is willing to better assist you.. Save yourself the disappointment and look elsewhere."
"I have been calling and emailing for weeks and i haven’t been able to get through to anyone. My visa expires on the 1st of September and I lost my passport Sent in my documents to get a replacement and haven’t been able to get through to anyone at all. And i see you guys responding to all the reviews on here but cannot answer the calls or email. I don’t know what kind of operation you guys are running and you guys open for only 3 hours which makes it worse then emphasize on the fact you are responsible for 33 states"
