"My hair stylist is Nyesha. She has been my hair stylist for 10 years now. She treats your hair and no 2 customers are the same. She styles your hair and slay it according to your needs. She is a hair cut connoisseur"
"I normally get my cuts in Chinatown, but called to make an appointment since this place is close to where I live. Was told, "Sweetie, we don't cut asian hair." Fine. Do you cut latina hair? Relaxed hair? Do you only do ethno-racial divided cuts? I'm insulted, moving on."
"Listen, my gurl Nyesha is AMAZING. The atmosphere was chill and everything you expect in a salon. Place was clean and for a wash, rinse and chop I was in and out in an hour and a half"
"I brought my girls here twice. The first time we had an appointment for 6pm and didn't get seen until 10pm. She apologized and said next time it won't happen again. The second time I brought my youngest daughter here for a birthday style hair do and I had an appointment for 3. I arrived at 250pm and she wasn't done with her client...so I waited for a few minutes then so woman comes In with her daughter and goes to the same woman who is suppose to do my daughter hair and ask when will it be her daughter turn and the stylist replied after this client in my chair. Clearly bumping me and my daughters appt out the way and when I asked her what was going on she replied the next little girl hair wont take long. I don't ever recommend goin here again.. so unprofessional...."
"*** HORRID experience! *** I had an awful experience 10 years ago and again earlier this year. I will tell EVERYONE I KNOW TO STAY AWAY! A decade ago,the owner attempted to make ammends by returning a portion of my money for a bad service. I had that in mind when I returned out of desperation (my regular stylist had to cancel on me at the last minute), and figured that what I had experienced way back then, was just one bad experience and that the stylist in question was not going to be the same one to service me again; and I was getting a different kind of service this time around. I WAS WRONG! I had a chemical treatment done by an IDIOT! I don't know where she could have gotten her license from, perhaps she bought it! She did not know how to apply relaxer and began to apply it in inch wide sections, about an inch away from my scalp. In other words, she skipped my new growth (the ONLY place that it should be applied) and began to apply it to already relaxed hair. THE BAD STYLIST WAS BONKERS! I didn't see what she was doing to begin with because she started at the back of my head, and at the time, I thought that she must have been really good, because I didn't feel ANY relaxer on my scalp. HMPH. When I realized what she was doing I was in shock and asked her to stop. She offered to wash it out and send me home, but the chemical was already in my hair and while we "discussed" precious time was passing. I allowed her to continue since she'd already begun, and I knew that if she washed my hair then, that I wouldn't be able to relax my hair again for a few days and I was traveling out of town on business early the following day. She finished the job and was rather medicore at everything else. Toward the end of my service I was appalled when she whipped out the old school stove to curl my hair. I asked if she had a flat iron and she borrowed a colleagues and it wasnt even a high end model. I was very disappointed and disgusted. I've had significantly better chemical treatments in the past for $20 and $30 at the Domincan Salons that I used to frequent as a poor college student. I paid 72.80 on 1/18/2012 for an awful service and regret it to this day! I am reminded everyday that I wear my hair up, because a significant portion of my hair BROKE OFF at the nape of my neck, where she over processed my hair, and now a few inches hang loose from my ponytail. It will be at least another few months before the hair grows long enough to be "caught" in the elastic again. To this day, I still regret not demanding to speak with a manager and having someone come from their main salon to resolve my issue. I'm upset that I paid for such a negative experience. I usually speak up about such things, but I was so mad, that I just wanted to get out of there and was doing all I could to control my anger and maintain civility. What angers me most isn't that the woman made a mistake, but that she was supposed to be a professional and she was IGNORANT and tried to be "wrong and strong". I don't know where they found her, but they need to send her back to wherever she came from! I regretted going to SoKeTah the first time and the second time... and I'd rather pull my hair out, strand by strand, than return there for a third time!"
