"I went here three days in a row on my trip so that should tell you something! Modern Bread and Bagel is a GIFT to this world and especially the gluten free folks! I love that my gluten eating people couldn’t even tell the difference. Everyone raved about it and I became a frequent visitor right away. I wish all gluten free stuff tasted this good! The bagels are amazing and so are the bagel sandwiches with lox/cream cheese/veggies, the bagel breakfast sandwich (FAVE of the two) and above all…*mouth watering* the chocolate babka bread in the pastry section. WOW. I will be dreaming of that for days. I think when they have freshly baked it, the babka is the moistest. Maybe ask before what day they make it. Honorable mention for the grainless carrot muffin as well!! I had the chocolate zucchini bread which was good, but rich. And wasn’t a huge fan of the caramelized banana rugelach or doughnut texture but maybe it wasn’t my taste preference. The staff is helpful and efficient — the line forms quick but they move it along quickly!! The place is small with limited bench seating inside but the seating is spacious outside. Id recommend getting there around when they open as they do run out of some things. The food isn’t inexpensive but WORTH it. Run don’t walk!!! This place rocks. Someday I hope they share the babka recipe so we can make it for ourselves if we don’t live in NYC. Thanks Orly and fam for creating this gem."

"Being gluten free, a good bagel is hard to come across, so when we came to visit NYC I new this place was a must. By far the best bagels I have ever had (pre GF included). You would never be able to tell that these are gluten free. They are fluffy, flavourful, and the options are endless. The staff was very kind and welcoming, and had no problems answering any questions I had."

"Fantastic food and super friendly staff. We got the open faced bagel (everything w/ lox) and to me their combination of flavors were better than a typical (gluten full) bagel. Additionally, their mushroom sausage & egg sandwich was such a pleasant surprise, also super tasty. My wife (celiac) and I loved it so much, we will be ordering a ton of food from their website to be delivered to us in Texas."

"I can’t rate this bakery high enough. My husband is gluten intolerant and has not been able to enjoy a bagel for years. Typically gluten free baked goods are a compromise for taste or quality but this bakery really knows what they are doing. We would almost move here for this place! Of course if you can tolerate gluten, there are many more well known bagel shops around the city but I cannot recommend this highly enough for someone with sensitivity. Be sure to order the cinnamon roll as it sells out very early! The blueberry loaf is also excellent. Will have to be back and work on trying everything on the menu. Everything we had was superb. Thank you to the owners and staff for making my husband’s birthday weekend a huge success!!"
