"RACIAL BIAS/ THEY RUINED CHRISTMAS When we arrived on Christmas Day we were pleasantly greeted by a woman but then a man stepped in while we were waiting to be seated (who we later learned was Mike the beverage manager). He told his team where to seat us and asked that they call Lauren to service us. As we were being escorted to our seats it seemed like a never ending walk upstairs to the very back of the restaurant between two waiters stations despite having a reservation and there being seating available on the main floor. There was also a curtain covering the inventory closet which was slightly ajar and the cooking area was behind us with a greasy acrylic window divider. It felt weird because we were the only black people in the restaurant at the moment and we were being pushed away from the other guests that were dining also seeing as the couple that was sat right before us were seated in the main dining room. It felt very much like the for colored only section. We decided to ask the manager Mike about his decision to have us seated in the back and he fumbled over his answer too many times to make us feel confident that the decision was not racially motivated. Immediately after he said he had a new table for us. Funny enough how a new table magically opened up. We refused, but then the damage control started. All of a sudden this empty corner room where we sat alone began to fill with other people. OUT OF NOWHERE! Our order was pretty simple. We ordered the Caesar, fries, filet mignon and macaroni and cheese. The Caesar salad had wilted lettuce and a bitter dressing that was nowhere near what a Caesar should be. It was absolutely disgusting and we had to send it back. The fries were cold and pretty flavorless. I ate them anyway, we waited to have what we thought would be a great dinner so we arrived hungry. The filet mignon was charred almost to burnt on the outside and the inside was weird and stringy and not indicative of the high quality you would expect from such an expensive cut of meat at a Wolfgang establishment. To add insult to injury, the waitress Lauren assumed we were sharing the steak and had it brought out cut in half. The filet was tough, cold and flavorless. How disappointing on so many levels for such a high quality cut of meat. The Mac and cheese was pretty bad and in dire need of salt. We got it based on Lauren’s recommendation. When we asked if she liked it instead of explaining the flavor profile she decided to enlighten us about how it’s made with a bechamel sauce and going through step by step of what a bechamel sauce is funny enough my wife is well versed in food and I’m a French trained chef we didn’t need the rundown and thought it was weird that she assumed we had no clue! During this time I would like to also say that Lauren NEVER once asked us how we were doing or how the meal was. At one point my wife called her name and Lauren did not respond. The Manager Mike sent us a complimentary shrimp cocktail after we sent the salad back. The problem is a waiter came to our table and just said here’s your shrimp. We told him we didn’t order it and he took it back. Then he came back and said it’s complimentary and put it on our table. Never once were we ever asked if we had a shellfish allergy. I guess they figured something free would shut us up but nonetheless we refused it. We ended up spending a little over $175.00 to sit in a time out corner, eat old salad, cold fries, bland macaroni and cheese and overpriced steak that barely mirrored a filet mignon. When we were exiting Mike the manager asked us how everything was. We told him we were extremely disappointed given the weight of the name behind this restaurant and the placement in the Four Seasons hotel. He insisted on giving us his business card but the damage was done. We left disappointed, underwhelmed and hungry. To be honest, this restaurant simply didn’t make the CUT!"
"The food at this place is great but I am mostly writing this review because I met a waitress there who has to be recognized publicly. I believe her name is Essence, but if you go there you will be able to spot who I am talking about because she looks like a young Naomi Campbell, absolutely gorgeous. She was prompt, smart, caring, and knowledgable about the food, everything she recommended was so delicious. She just had this friendly demeanor that made me and my friend all happy. By the end of our day, two of us said, "She's the best waitress we've ever had”, unfortunately her shift ended mid meal and as much as the rest of staff is nice, she was definitely above and beyond. Food is also great. The roasted chicken with salsa verde is unbelievable. All side dishes, as well as the sliders and dessert are also 10/10. I’ll definitely come back!"
"Had breakfast and dinner here while staying at the Four Seasons and we we’re not disappointed. The chicken and steak dishes were well prepared and the raw bar items were high quality. The only negative things we could find during dinner were that our server’s shift ended mid meal and the decanters that were showcased had not been cleaned and had fingerprints all over them; not a big deal but didn’t meet the standard they’re trying to set. Breakfast, however, was perfect. The eggs were top quality as was the fruit and the service was flawless. There’s plenty of options for restaurants in Manhattan but I would likely visit this location again."
