"I was pleasantly surprised by my experience with this Dollar location. As a long time New Yorker, I know that things are normally more hectic in the NYC area. I was prepared for complications and braced myself for bad surprises. But, everything went smoothly. I was able to check-in before my pickup and the car was ready for me when I arrived. I wanted to add a driver, so I waited in line to make the changes to the reservation. It took a while to get to the front of the line, but when I finally was attended to, the employee was extremely friendly and helpful. She added my driver and gave me all the information I would need concerning tolls. Friendly and helpful are not words I often associate NYC travel. There were no surprise charges and everything went smoothly. Thanks, Dollar, for a great rental at a reasonable price and a seamless pickup. NOTE: I did not drop off at this location."

"This location was absolutely horrendous. We used a third-party booking, and nothing worked out the way we had planned. First, they don't take debit cards, and if they do, there's an extra 300 deposit to do so. So our original deposit was supped to be 200. Which changed to 500. Then, no one else could pay for it because it was reserved under my name. Then we couldn't change the driver listed, because the third party customer service said it wasn't possible. We had already prepaid for it, and without an extra 500, they refused to give us the rental, and we couldn't change drivers, so we couldn't use a different credit card. They took our money and gave us little to no customer service, and we didn't get a car. We were basically robbed, and the individual behind the counter told us there was nothing she could do and just moved on to the next customer. We were also lied to to get us out of the way for the next customer Id give this place zero stars if I could, and the customer service lady had an absolutely abysmal attitude and was incredibly disrespectful. Never again."

"booked a mini van through priceline 1 month ago to be sure i got what i needed. i tried to do early check in though the app, said my car wasn’t ready. i go to pick it up …. they have no mini vans… only small SUV. why was i allowed to book and prepay for my insurance on the car if it’s not even available? lady at the front was nice but nothing she could do to help me. very stressful as i was driving from NYC to FL. was able to find what i needed though budget car rental."

"LGA location. Avoid if you can. Late with everything - car pickup actually starts at 645a so forget your 6a reservation. No point in making a reservation. Noone answers the phones (definitely not at 6 when they're supposed to be open). Was told a gas car was an upgrade from an EV even though it was an older tired car that smelled like smoke. Final bill was around $150 more than the original price (almost triple for a gas car?), if I wasn't pressed for time and already late, I'd go somewhere else. The car attendant in the back was nice though. Otherwise this team lacks customer service skills and be prepared for every tactic to get more money from you on the spot. Notice that the owner who replies to these reviews has the same bland cold response but no action, no refund, no adjustment, no improvement in reviews."
