"I hired the In The Beginning agency in late March as I needed a caregiver to stay with my wife 2 days a week as she has Parkinson’s and Parkinson’s related issues. The owner and one of her employees met with my wife and I for the introductory meeting in early March. They were very friendly and explained their philosophy and procedures. Likewise I informed them that I would be playing golf the two days that I required their assistance. I had only 2 requirements, to be on time and I may need to cancel the day of service due to rainy weather which would prevent playing golf. They had no issue with possible cancellations due to weather. Well that was all just rhetoric. I started their service the first week of April and ended their service by the end of April. The caregiver was 15 - 20 minutes late at least 50% of the days and the final straw was the caregiver simply did not show up, no notice, no communication. I had expressed my frustration with the tardiness to the owner but nothing changed. After repeated tardiness I had had enough and left a heated voice mail. So, after the no show I terminated our relationship and at that time I was informed the caregiver had been terminated. They did not offer a replacement caregiver so I assumed they did not have one to offer. The owner seemed to understand my position. As our final conversation was wrapping up I asked about my $200 deposit and how that would be handled. I was told I would receive a check even though I paid by credit card. A couple of weeks pass with no check. I then reached out to the owner via voice mails, emails and text messages. No response. I finally received a response in late May telling me I would only receive 50% of my deposit because I broke the contract in that I did not give 14 days notice and I was disrespectful on my voicemail. It is true, I did not provide 14 days notice but on the other hand they did not offer a replacement so why do I have to give a 14 day notice when they could not supply the help? As for disrespectful that is a matter of opinion. I could argue it is disrespectful to continually show up late and then just not show at all. I was told I would receive the $100 check but not until the week of July 4th. It is now early June. The week of July 4th comes and no check. Again, I contact the owner with no response. Finally after numerous attempts , the owner responds and says she wasn’t aware the check wasn’t sent and she would personally mail a check the next day. A week to 10 days later I receive the check, unsigned, how convenient. I informed the owner and she apologized and said another check would be sent. After a number of days pass with no check. I contact the owner AGAIN and was told she put the check in the mail on Friday July 23rd and she was going on vacation. By Tuesday I do not have a check and upon contacting the owner again I was informed the mail carrier didn’t pick up the mail. I guess they didn’t pick up the mail on Saturday, Monday or Tuesday either. It is very clear this agency never had any intention of refunding my deposit and they are just stringing me along. I terminated the agency in late April and still waiting for my deposit refund on August 3rd. Upon writing this review I am sure I will never see my deposit refund but I have used up all the patience I have with In The Beginning. To conclude, be very very careful considering this agency. There are much better options available."
