Reviews
"This is a residency farm, do not recommend. There is not enough oversight on what the residents are doing, which has led to out of pocket expenses from lack of compotence."
"I think I would give UPMC Shadyside Family Health Center zero stars if it was possible - sure everyone is kind and friendly, but you will not get the services you need. I went in for an annual wellness exam and needed some routine tests for a specific purpose (blood work, hearing screening, vision screening, etc). They took my temperature, blood pressure, listened to my heart and lungs, felt my glands, and spent the rest of the visit telling me how they couldn't order a chest X-ray or pulmonary function test without an underlying condition. No hearing or vision screening tests were conducted by the doctor or nurse. When it came time to order blood work, I had to ask for specific labs to be ordered apart from the CBC - no blood chemistries were ordered since I forgot to tell the physician to order this set of labs. To make matters worse, the CBC results weren't even interpreted correctly. Icing on the cake, I received a bill for the hearing and vision screening that were never actually conducted and they didn't share my insurance information with Quest Diagnostics who ran the labs, so now I have to jump through hoops to get them to process the claims correctly. This whole experience was a headache and a half and certainly not worth the trouble. Never have I ever had to tell an MD, DO, or NP which specific labs to order for an annual wellness exam."
"I have lost all faith in UPMC. I made an appointment to see a doctor today and came away with nothing. I went to the UPMC Urgent Care. They told me to go to the emergency room at great cost or go to see the doctors next door. I go next door and book another appointment with a new doctor for later that night. An hour later UPMC cancelled the appointment. Dr. Gross was "called away." This is after I have pre-register for the appointment by answer 15 minutes worth of questions. I just hurt and want to see a doctor. I don't want to answer 300 questions on how depressed I am. Sure I'm depressed, I can't get freaking medical help from UPMC. So then I was told to call the appointment line. The lady that answered was rude and just terrible. Unprofessional. First she made me answer a dozen pointless questions beyond my name and birthdate before telling me that there was no more appointments that day and only one on Friday that I couldn't go to. Why did you spend 10 minutes asking me questions if you weren't going to help me?? She then told me she would put me through to the nurses station because they "Hold appointments" but instead I get another rude answering service that said, we'll they're not answering and I can't help you get an appointment and hangs the @#$% up. Now I'm @#$%ed and can't get another appointment for a few weeks. I get that UPMC is struggling. Wait times are atrocious. I waited an hour at the urgent care before a NP saw me. I do not recommend this experience."
"I umm... I'm lost for words honestly. Best thing is to tell you all that 3 years prior to getting a new diagnosis I told them about my issues with My leg and my headaches. They wrote it off as if I was a junkie. Never doing pills a day in my life, I let it roll off my shoulders. Living with headaches that would immobilize me while raising two little girls. Even though I have asked for referrals and testing I haven't had very much help from MY PCP! My eye doctor is actually who found my first diagnosis of I.I.H. years after my initial complaint! They've also priscibed me the same medication that could very well be the cause of my diagnosis after being diagnosed! Long story short I still don't completely understand what's wrong with me or how it happened but hey, guess they won't take accountability for that one either!"
"Cancelled my appointment the day before. Rescheduled me for 2 weeks away. Now I am stuck with prescriptions that need renewed and blood test that will be delayed. I'm sure they could careless about this review but I hope it helps someone choose better."
