Dr. Cater serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University, followed by an Internal Medicine residency and fellowships in cardiovascular disease and advanced cardiac imaging at the University of Pittsburgh.

In 2023, Dr. Cater joined the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute at UPMC Passavant, where he practices at clinics in McCandless, Cranberry, and Moon. His clinical interests encompass cardiac imaging and general cardiology, with a particular focus on valvular/structural heart disease and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Dr. Cater is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and an active member of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance and the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography.

Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Cater enjoys cooking and spending quality time with his wife and four children.
