"First off, what a fun place. You walk in and the old timy-ness sets right in and you feel like you have gone back in time. And that’s why I came to Bernie’s I really wanted to support the family business. I walked in with my daughter last week to get a handful of disposable cameras processed, and was immediately greeted by the owner, what a genuine guy! I was immediately helped with my request to get my prints and also wanted to check out a real camera since I enjoyed the disposable cameras but wanted something real. He pointed me in the direction of a canonet QL17 GIII and boy am I impressed. I was even able to snag all the extras you would need to keep it running for a while. I will return to pick up my prints as well as drop off the new ones from here on out. What a great experience and I’m very happy to support the locals! You may spend just a tad more than Amazon, but it is most definitely worth worth it as it comes with a handshake!"
"We thought the owner Bruce was a wonderful person and his museum was simply amazing!! The amount of history and artifacts that exist in that museum is very impressive. My sister purchased a quality lens for her camera and was so happy with it. Bruce was very knowledgable . We really recommend the Only and certainly One of a kind museum ."
"I recently brought my Pentax IQZoom Ezy film camera to Bernie's Photo Center to have a broken rewind mechanism repaired. I received an estimate of $100 for the repair, which is far more than the camera's value so in my opinion it was not worth it. However, the worst part of my experience was the customer service. The staff was extremely rude and unhelpful. When I inquired about the possibility of selling the camera to the store, Bernie dismissively called it "junk" and made it clear he had no interest in helping me further in any way. His attitude was intolerable and unprofessional, leaving me feeling insulted and undervalued as a customer. Given the exorbitant repair costs and the terrible customer service, I cannot recommend Bernie's Photo Center to anyone. Save your time and money by going elsewhere for your camera needs."
"I have had excellent experiences at Bernie’s. Each time I have been helped by Bruce, the son of the original owner from 1958 (Bernie). Bruce has been consistently helpful, patient and kind in answering my many questions and is a well of knowledge in this niche sector. I am surprised by other reviews that are so put off by their service experience. It is worth every penny to me to be able to buy film cameras/supplies in person from someone I can trust and ask questions vs. taking a gamble buying something random online, hoping there are no issues."
"Was hoping to have a place to go to get advice on the best products to suit my needs without trying to sift through information overload online but it seems they’re happy to provide misinformation if it means they make more money. I’ve bought lenses and cameras here before and had mixed experiences. The last time I was there I was looking for a solar lens for the eclipse - wanted to be sure I was getting the correct item so decided to buy in person. He sold me a regular ND filter not suitable for solar photography. Best part is it wasn’t even the right size - after I took the lens out to show him what I’d be using. Luckily I looked it up after and found out I needed something different and didn’t destroy my sensor using what he sold me, and got the correct lens for half the price of the one he sold me. If you’re a beginner like me looking for help or guidance on gear steer clear you’ll be taken advantage of here."
