"I first went to Pong's (now Fred’s Wrigleyville Garage) when I was new to the city. They were so helpful and upfront about everything. I've had 3 excellent experiences with them. First, my car was making a very weird sound on the wheel and I took it in to get it checked out. It was a minor fix, and Pong and his crew fixed it right away for me free of charge. Another instance, my exhaust pipe was broken, and they were straight up with me and said don't get it fixed here as it will cost more, then recommended me to another shop that was excellent. Lastly, today I woke up to a flat tire that I couldn't drive on. I live about a mile away from the shop, and he sent one of his crew members to my apartment within 5 minutes so that I was able to drive it over and get it fixed. "I’ve been taking my husband’s car and my recently purchased car into Fred’s and they have always been very straight forward with me on what the car needs and don’t try to over sell me on things the car doesn’t need. Had an ongoing noise issue with my car and Fred went above and beyond in trying to identify and fix the issue. They even went and got a second opinion from another local garage and didn’t charge me. "Fred's is an honest, reliable, and speedy mechanic shop that I highly recommend to any in need. I took my 2012 Chevy Malibu in for an issue with the front end (lights for ABS, Traction, and ESC were on too) before taking a long road trip and I had my issues fixed and my car back in the same day! My car needed a diagnostic test to be ran, and the bearings and wheel rods were replaced on the front end which cost a total of $950. Fred, the owner, was kind and helpful throughout the process and made sure that my vehicle would be safe to take a trip in. I cannot thank Fred and his staff enough for the great work that they do."
"edit: Got in a pinch a few months ago, needed a quick turnaround with my muffler felt like it was a lot but needed the work done. The work was sound and I'm sure the mechanics are great but after sharing the specific bills with others, especially the recent work it seemed a tad over priced is what I have been told. But agree to disagree on pricing, it was agreed upon due to tight timeline and the shop location. Glad this shop has great clientele and customers who have had great experiences, but I wont be taking my cars or recommend anyone here."
