"The first time I met Nikki, she rode her bike over to my house with all of her acupuncture equipment and a freshly foraged Maitake mushroom to make a house call after I had just gone through a debilitating ulcerative colitis flare followed by an emergency colectomy. While the sun shone in my room, my old man cat lay by my side, and my children relaxed in their rooms, she took my pulses and placed the needles, and told me that underneath my most recent illness I am a healthy person who wants to heal. Over the course of the next nine months, and two more intense abdominal surgeries to place a Jpouch and take down my ostomy, I saw Nikki on a weekly or biweekly basis. Whenever I visited my colorectal surgeon, he was very pleased with the healing process. I believe that I was able to heal from a flare that nearly killed me because of her care, in part. During this period of my life, I could have gotten weaker and more afraid. Instead, I grew stronger and ready for whatever was next. I believe in the connection between practitioner and patient as a healing relationship, and this was exactly that. Nikki is a compassionate caregiver who truly wants the best for her patients. Every time I visited, I felt a sense of relief and like I was being built back up again from what was, indeed, a very low place."

"Extremely knowledgeable & excellent researcher coupled with lack professionalism, such as poor boundaries, poor time management, poor communication (inability to provide or receive direct feedback), mettle’s in personal life unrelated to medical visits, such as, seeking socialization needs through employment, etc. Which also includes over identification with political parties, feminists empowerment (at the expense of men’s rights and true equality), or motherhood. Ms. Rodney is an absolute inspiration and no doubt a mentor and role model to many, especially those seeking to learn TMC. She was someone that I trusted wholeheartedly and idolized, but through the office relocation, changes in staffing, the pandemic and the demands of raising a home, her ability to be present was noticeably inhibited and her intuition dampened by whatever maybe going on in the forefront of the conscious mind. All in all, when you don’t think that you can be of assistance to a patient, you can have a conversation to decrease care and hand-off. Instead, I was told she has real patients with real problems. All and all, I felt like she eluded to the fact that I wasn’t immobilized enough to be worth her time after nearly 2 years of weekly or bi-weekly appointments. Though my insurance deems my case as ‘chronic’, Ms. Rodney made her own judgments based on emotions. Perhaps I’m too inexperienced, but I truly feel that on her worst day she is still a better acupuncturist than most, yet, I’m unwilling to tolerate the immature judgement, gossip & games, the salon chatter, matchmaking or ghosting my appointment 32 mins beforehand with some excuse of needing to tend to her daughter. Cleveland isn’t all that big. Ya know, we will probably still see each other again outside of the office.. that’ll be awkward."
