"Soggy day but still better than doing nothing. Wanted to take the trail to the tram then ride it down like some have suggested but conditions were not ideal for us. Continuing up Franklin st leads you to a series of many steps dropping into Cope Park that will be easy for some and challenging for others but worth it either way."
"Really pretty park. The trails were unfortunately washed out so there wasn't a lot of options for hiking when I was there."
"A beautiful gem so close to downtown Juneau! Beautiful rushing water, lovely paths, and even a cute park for little ones."
"We accessed this park by walking through town and following the signs. There was a path we took that had lots of steps going down into the park where we saw many families playing on the playground and in the grass. We found a trail that took us along Gold Creek. It was absolutely beautiful and a very easy hike. We saw someone harvesting berries on the bushes and though I was tempted to taste them, I didn't."
"Just underwent the first phase of a "remodel", if such a term can be applied to a recreational park, and it sits at the foot of some wild mountain where a glacial river carves it's own transition from rugged nature into downtown juneau, en route to the pristine Lynn Canal. This park is the gateway to other trailheads and to upper downtown Juneau and Basin proper for the mountains which make up the park's rolling forested boundaries. Clearly, this is a place of power. ;-) Cope Park sports a fenced in (rather large) dog park, and brand new, playground with, currently, one fenced tennis court which sits above the other two attractions. There are lavatory facilities with running water, city stocked doggy bags for the dog park and surrounding area. This is a well-frequented city park near the heart of downtown Juneau and some of the off-trail terrain and "culture" has been known to be rather dangerous so be alert when venturing off the beaten path. There is also uncovered seating available near the river at the entrance to the park. Great place for a picnic on a sunny day!"
