"Roach haven. Feels like you’re living in the hood. Always was scared to walk with the light off in fear of stepping on a roach."
"I have waited almost a year to post a review. Let me start by mentioning a few positives. 1. Most of the apartments have been renovated. New energy efficient water heaters / A.C. / furnaces. They've done a good job with adding modern convenience. 2. Maintenance is exceptional. Edin is incredible. Any problems will be fixed quickly. Now for the cons. 1. This is a SLC county owned property, which means there are a large amount of housing voucher tenants and refugees living here. 2. Many of the refugees are dropped-off and only given a basic understanding of how to function in an apartment community. Many tenants dry their clothing in the open on the stairs. I personally witnessed a refugee tenant put his clothing in with another tenant's load in a dryer. They have been seen by many digging in the garbage collecting what they want that has been thrown out by other tenants, i.e. garbage. I also saw some random kid just poop on the sidewalk and the parents didn't care. The refugee tenants have a tendency to stick together and harass the citizens out of prejudice based on their religion and / or country of origin culture. 3. There is an overwhelming large amount of drug dealers in the neighborhood. I personally worked with the South Salt Lake police department to bust a prominent meth dealer squatting in the complex. The sad thing is that when one leaves several more squat in other apartments. There are several squatters who sleep in their cars by night on the property because nothing is said about them. If you have the wherewithall to read online reviews before renting then this place is not for you. However, if you are on housing assistance etc, then this will be the perfect place for you. There are plenty of tenants who are in the same fixed-income bracket with whom you can identify. Do your research aforehand. Drive through the complex on a weekend and experience the Covewood way of life and determine if it's a right fit for you."
"I have lived here for five years plus. My lease is up the end of December 2018. I went to give the property manager who is Karen, who is very belligerent and very hard to get along with, a 30 day notice therefore she said I had to give her a 60-day notice (that would be until February) she also gave me a letter that stated I would be paying $150 extra a month unless I signed a lease. Now I don't understand how she can make me pay the $150 extra a month or anything because my lease is up! I know that I will not get my deposit back which is crazy because I spent over $5,000 on a wood floor. I just want out of here so bad I'm so tired of all the drug dealing going on cars coming in and out all the time just to get drug deals and turn around and come right back out. I'm tired of the cars getting broken into and Karen not doing a dang thing about it. I'm sick of the laundromat looking like filth and trying to wash your clothes and keep them clean and then put them in the dryer and you have to put them on the cycle about four times to get them dry because she turns the dryer so low. And I'm getting sick of the people that she's got coming in and renting they bring cockroaches bed bugs you name it she won't lift a finger to fix it. Number 31 up on top is infested with roches, she hasn't even called an exterminator to get out and fix it!! And they have been moved out for 2 to 3 weeks now. Karen Cartmill, I guess I'm just sick of you!!! This is from one excellent renter to the rest of the excellent renters don't live here it's not worth the headache or the bugs or the drugs you name it it's not worth it!! She's now even sent me a bill to pay around $500, Karen don't hold your breath!"
"I just wanted to add, that Forest Park is NOT a nice place to live. I've been here for 4 years, under such time we've gone through 3 different management offices, each time losing more service. The current one hasn't impressed me at all, their response to issues takes months, or doesn't get resolved at all. They were made in the 70's, I don't believe they've any insulation, my gas bill in the winter is 85-120 dollars, and I don't run my furnace, just a gas water heater which leaks exhaust back into my apt. Still yet to be resolved. I use electric heaters to try to stay warm, which is nearly impossible with these old windows. The space for the price is nice, the area is horrible, the upkeep = cut grass. They don't bother with snow removal, sometimes you'll get salt on the walks 3-5 days after a snow. The pool goes a nice green color in the summer, to which I've been told they're going to close it down, oh, and raise rent, of course. I'd save my money and live somewhere nicer unless you're ok with fixing your own problems and noise from lack of insulation."
"I have lived here for about 15 months. Apartments are small, but pleasant and relatively inexpensive. Management, however, in another story. There have been three property managers during my time here, going from bad to worse. The current manager is an extremely rigid, "letter-of-the-law" type person, whose customer service skills are poor to none, (which seems to be the consensus of other tenants with whom I have spoken.)"
