La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Salt Lake City Airport

"What really upset us the most was that we were not told upon check-in that cleaning was only available upon request. We have stayed at numerous properties, including Wyndham properties in the last several years and most have resumed normal operation when it comes to housekeeping (since COVID). I was shocked to come back to my room to discover that it had not been cleaned all day. If this is a case then it needs to be communicated to guests at the time of check-in. Instead I got the surprise and when I talked to the desk about it in the evening I was told "cleaning needed to be requested, so sorry." This aside, rooms were clean upon arrival but we're not followed up on with subsequent cleaning the next day. Other cons would be you could hear people slamming the double doors to the bathrooms at all hours. The rooms were dated and had disrepair. There were several cracked tiles in the bathroom. The breakfast was ok but they ran out of bananas before I got there. They need to plan better about how many bananas they actually need. The muffins were stale. The pool and hot tub were nice, we did enjoy those. Despite these issues, I might say there again as we do have a trip coming up and sadly I have read worse reviews for some of the other Wyndham properties nearby. I do have gold status with Wyndham I like to stick with them, but I have definitely had better experiences at other Wyndham properties over this one. I would say this is middle of the road, not the best but not the worst. I think that as long as somebody goes in with the bar set low they will be happy. The biggest takeaway is that if you want your room cleaned you need to notify them in advance everyday, which is absolutely insane."

"La Quinta has always been our go to hotel on trips…… until now. The hotel is worn and dated. Chips in the walls, floors, and even the elevator looks dirty. Two lamps in our room did t work, we were only left two bath towels in the bathroom and the shower looked tacky. The front desk person couldn’t have been more disinterested in providing customer service and instead seemed more interested in her phone. We only stayed one night and had to exchange our key cards three times because they stopped working or didn’t work at the get go. Have always loved our stays at La Quinta but couldn’t have been more disappointed in this site."

"The best word I can think of for this property is tired. The rooms were decent but worn with signs of repaired walls, plumbing, light fixtures, etc. where a desk was supposed to be in our room, there was nothing but a big open space. Not even a chair in the room at all. And I know it’s fairly common but I don’t understand why queen sized beds aren’t standard in a room with two beds. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the location is great for airport travel. The breakfast buffet was pretty standard but well stocked and hot. We were a little concerned that the back door was not secure and being held open by a rock. The front desk told us the key device was not working. One advantage is that they offer parking for $5 per day and a free shuttle to and from the airport."

"The staff is friendly, hard working, and dedicated. The rooms are cute, with inperfections; perfect for a 1 night stay over. If bringing kids, there is a pool, and hot tub in great condition. Full breakfast is good and included. Overall, a great 2 Star Hotel. Paid $91+ taxes and fees, for 1 night."

"I gave two stars only because the night front desk lady was very nice and even gave my husband cookies. That’s were the good reviews end. Halls smelled of musty cigarettes as well as our room. Air didn’t work and heat wouldn’t shutoff so opened window that didn’t have a screen, didn’t want creepy crawlers coming in and closed window and unplugged heater. Walls seem to very thin we could hear our neighbors. Next morning went down for breakfast for not real eggs and not real bacon. Hard pass. Went to front desk and said Good morning and was not acknowledged. Stood at counter for a few then asked the girl in front of me if I can leave the keys on the counter, without raising her head or eyes from the computer, she very rudely said “just a minute” Extremely rude and obviously needing customer service training. I left the keys by her and left. We will never stay here again. Yuck"
