"From the minute you walk into Mountainworks you can feel that this store will be a different climbing and mountaineering gear buying experience than you will get at a big box or national store. The employees are always friendly and excited to talk to you about climbing no matter what your experience level in the sport is. But the thing that really sets Mountainworks apart in my mind is the individual service you will receive, and the knowledge the employees have about climbing gear, and local climbing areas. From trying on shoes to get the right fit, to hanging in a harness to see the difference between how they feel, they will go above and beyond to make sure you are happy with your purchase and that your purchase is right for you. They usually have the inside scoop about the newest climbing areas in the area as well, so that’s worth asking about when you visit. Plan to spend some time just talking while you are there. Great store, great gear selection, great people."
"I've loved this store, but after meeting the owner I won't be back. I came in today for some advice for mountaineering boots, as I've rented boots here before and figured it was time for my own pair. The owner suggested a few options, but when I asked for advice on sizing he flat out refused to help. "No. Why should I waste an hour of my time helping size you when you are going to buy these in a different store. Not cool man, not cool..." I was planning on buying boots here, but not anymore. They have a great selection of gear and good prices, but I was frankly shocked at the customer service I received."
"These guys really want to help you out. They set me up with my first pair of climbing shoes and I couldn't be happier. They didn't just shove me a set but instead took time to teach me how the shoes should feel and fit and helped me make a decision. If you need gear this is the place to get it."
"I used to go to other big outdoor stores for my climbing gear, but now I only come here. They have everything you would ever need for all types of climbing, and they have super nice and chill employees who know everything there is to know about climbing. They will set you up with the best gear, and even take the time to make sure you know how to properly use it. The salesman selling me a Grigri took 15 minutes or so to show me how to properly use it. Ten out of ten, would recommend"
"This is the premier climbing shop in Utah county. The entire staff is extremely knowledgeable. Darren, the owner, has established hundreds - if not thousands - of local climbing routes and even wrote the Maple Canyon guidebook. The shop is small, but the selection is still pretty good- definitely better than other non-specialty retailers like REI or Al's Sporting Goods. And the guidebook selection is LEGENDARY! What this shop lacks in size, it makes up for in staff expertise. They're especially helpful when it comes to fitting climbing shoes, which is why I always bring my friends there to find their first pair!"
