"This poor guy!! 93 years old. Couldn’t remember me even after being to my house to work on my grandfather then I took the “guts” to him because it still wouldn’t run. I called him 4 times he still got me mixed up with someone else. He told me how he would fix my clock but when I went to pick it up after almost 3 weeks, he hadn’t done what he said he would do. He didn’t remember the problem or anything about it. I finally just took my “guts” back and now I will start over."
"David is my go to when I need clock repairs done. He’s very genuine and a kind man. He’s knowledgeable in clock work and is very honest about what he can do, his prices, and is diligent about getting you set straight with your clock."
"DAVID CAN NO LONGER BE TRUSTED WITH YOUR CLOCK It pains me to say that David has lost the ability to safely do the intricate work he has done well for so many years. It is a sad story, but the evidence is clear. His memory has faded and he cannot keep up with the demands of the job any longer. Do not trust your clock to him. When my large antique wall-mounted clock recently developed a frayed cable, I called David because he had tuned it up for us when we received it from a relative ten years ago. This cherished family heirloom had been passed down through generations and kept perfect time for well over 100 years. Other than the frayed cable, it was in perfect condition. David took it into his shop. After he had it two weeks, I started calling to see how the repair was progressing. He doesn’t return calls. When I would reach him, he did not remember my name and, when reminded of my clock, could give me no estimate on when it would be ready. He suggested I call to keep it on the top of his mind, but then got agitated when I did so, and accused me of “badgering” him. He broke a tiny piece on the clock mechanism, which he did get repaired by an outside shop. After more than a month, though, I still did not have my clock back. He put the clock back together, but could not keep it running. I finally retrieved it and will have someone else do the repair. I hope that I have all the parts. His shop is full of clocks and parts, and did not reassure me. I spoke with an experienced clock repair person in the area who knows David. This person said he’s gotten many calls like mine, and advised me to retrieve my clock as soon as possible before David lost parts or did more damage. He felt strongly that he should no longer be in business, and I have to agree. I wish that a kind family member would take the keys to the shop away from him, and save him from being sued and customers from the heartache of having their treasures made inoperable. It is a sad ending to a wonderful business, and even sadder for the diminishment of someone who I really admired and enjoyed a decade ago."
"Sweet David should not be repairing clocks at his age. After servicing my parents grandfather clock in 2019, he had to return to fix what he had done as it was not working properly after he oiled it. This week the same thing happened after he oiled our clock. The left pendulum sounds like gears grinding as I tried to wind it and now the chime is not working :(. David returned and spent 2 hours making my clock worse. We have cancelled our payment to him. He really should not be still working at his age."
"Twenty years ago, David did a CLA on my fathers 1878 Seth Thomas ships clock and it is still running strong and accurately. I took several clocks to David because he was so knowledgeable, careful, and always took the the time to explain what what needed to be done and why."
