Reviews of Old Stage Riding Stables
"Everyone at the ranch was an absolute doll. The hospitality was unmatched and the animals are all so friendly and adorable. Gerald was a fantastic guide, the horses were beautiful and well-trained. The property is beautiful and the ride through the woods felt like such an adventure. 10/10 experience all around - such a peaceful, joyful environment. Thank you all for making our day such a memorable experience!"
"Best trail riding experience ever! Great experience from start to finish with easy booking, great communication, free parking, awesome atmosphere, great guides, horses and trails. The drive up is on a dirt mountain road but it’s fine if you go slow and let the locals pass you. Caitlin was our guide and she rocked! We had our 9 yo and she did great."
"Awesome 2-hour ride. Love this female, family owned riding stable. Horses were sharp, friendly, and very capable on the trail - up the mountain and through the trails. We saw wild deer and beautiful scenery. Staff and crew are the best. I look forward to returning. I hope to check out a cabin stay."
"I had a great experience going on a trail ride at Old Stage Riding Stables. Before coming I was a little apprehensive because of the way that the dirt road to the stables is described. It mentions cliff drop offs with no guardrails and a washboard road. And one of the reviews was saying that it was nerve-racking so I was getting a little nervous as well. However if you have driven on scary roads in Colorado I don't think you will be scared from this road. I have taken roads that are much worse than this. In fact the most annoying thing about the road was getting stuck behind people going 10 miles an hour because they were so scared. That's what the pull-offs are for just saying if you see someone following you behind you then you're probably going too slow for them and you should give them a chance to pass you. My favorite thing about Old Stage Riding Stables is that it is a really authentic feeling experience. We had one guide for our family of three so that was a really special and intimate experience. I'm not a big fan of hanging out with randoms so I was a little anxious thinking about a big group of strangers that were all going on this trip together. So that was really lucky and kind that they took us on a tour for just us. I can't guarantee that this is the norm but it definitely felt like they prefer doing small groups so if you're looking for that this might be the perfect place. And the area is beautiful, you can see mountain views and there's a little tiny creek and you can see the historical building still standing 150 years later. The horses are strong and gentle and kind. Your experience level doesn't matter they can take you if you have no idea what you are doing. I felt really comfortable on Duke. I felt very sturdy and solid even when he made a move to scratch his butt on a nearby tree catching me off guard haha. But I felt very connected with him on an individual level. Hopefully when I come back I can ride him again. Thanks for the great experience. Highly recommended unless you have never done any dirt roads or mountain driving in Colorado then maybe the road could be too scary for you but I would expect all locals to be comfortable on that road. I was."
"This place is a “must do” when in Colorado Springs. From the drive up the mountain to the picturesque stables this experience was the best we had all week while vacationing. Our group leader Zia was personable & professional. Our horses were awesome as well. Each had distinct personalities that made us enjoy our time out in the woods even better. True piece of Colorado experience run by some of the most wonderful people you’ll meet. PS… if you get to ride Ember, she’ll give you the best smile after you feed her some treats!"
