"PLEASE don't go here EVER!! Save yourself the hassle!!!!!!!! I went over a meeting by one minute because the psychiatrist was talking about her OWN life and now I owe over $350 to these people. I was VERY adamant about leaving right at 15 minutes the first couple times we met and the one time she decides to go on a rant and make me be the psychiatrist for HER I'm charged an "over time fee". Completely ridiculous. A complete scam. Nothing they said or did worked, I would talk to the psychiatrist for about 5 minutes and she would just up the dose immediately, and go on to talk about her weekend etc. Wish I could give negative stars, feeding off of and scamming mentally ill people when you're the ones supposed to help is the lowest the bar can go. I honestly don't know how these scam artists sleep at night."
"I've been going here for a few months now and have had nothing but positive experiences. Bobbi O'Rourke was the first person I met with and she was very kind and empathetic to my issues. Christopher Welsh is who I was transferred to from her. He didn't push any medications on me, he just laid out my options and let me choose which route I'd like to take. I've had zero issues with the reception staff, they've been super nice as well. This place is the first place I've ever gone to concerning mental health and I think they do a pretty good job."
"While the psychiatrists at Psychiatric Associates themselves are subpar (think incredibly expensive appointments that last on average 7-8 minutes, during which your concerns regarding your medications are for the most part brushed off and disregarded), the real problem is the horribly inept receptionists, who are unable to handle even the most basic requests. During my time at Psychiatric Associates, here are just some of the things I have dealt with: being sent incorrect links to telehealth appointments (sometimes the links are broken, other times the emails have an incorrect appointment time, resulting in a missed appointment), their insurance department having no knowledge of one of the most common insurance plans in the state of Iowa, being sent a bill for an appointment that has already been paid for. When you are finally fed up and would like to seek help elsewhere, good luck getting a referral sent, because their receptionists will neglect to send the release of information form, despite you calling about the same issue multiple times. If you are not looking to jump through a million hoops to get access to the medications you need, I highly advise you to seek care elsewhere."
"Stay far away from this place if you value your mental health. While the care my doctor provided was fine, dealing with the billing department has been a nightmare. Following my last visit in May, I received a call saying I had a balance of $200 on my account. I paid it, and received a confirmation that my balance was zero dollars. Six months later, I receive a four-figure bill in the mail for two years worth of visits, which I had already paid for. I called the billing department at Nystrom and Associates (who bought out this office) and the woman who answered the phone could not have been more rude and condescending. Again, stay far away unless you enjoy medical billing errors"
"DO NOT GO HERE! As I see others on here with the same issues I wish I would have spoken up sooner. Last year I had an issue with my Dr. there billing me extra directly outside of their billing system for services being given in house. At the owners request I pulled together all of the relevant documentation and provided it for a conversation that they had agreed to have and then did not follow through on. Seemed like since then things started going down hill for how I was treated by many of the staff. In this year alone I received many bills for hundreds of dollars that did not make sense. Each time I called in and they admitted they shouldn't have sent them to me as there were errors in their accounting system. I recently got a bill for $20 that did not make sense (my bills are always $40) and for once it was my mistake as my wife mailed the check to a different Dr. who cashed it. Instead of accepting my apology and the new check I sent for $60 to also cover my next appointment, even though this is a double standard, they destroyed the check and sent me a certified letter on Christmas Eve to let me know they were cancelling my appointments and that I needed to go elsewhere. No conversation, no benefit of the doubt, and most importantly not the way you should deal with people seeking mental health treatment. I pray you don't make the same mistake I did. If you need help, go somewhere that the owners\management are concerned about you and your health and less about how much money they can make and drop patients with difficult situations to make their lives easier."
