"I fought and lost much in service of my country. Hospitals like this make me regret that. The administrators do all they can to avoid talking to a patient and listening to complaints. It took many years to even get started fixing my TMJ as the doctor made it sound like I was asking to take money from her own pocket. Once they finally got started I had to pay for braces before they'd perform the surgery, 6,000 dollars out of my pocket. Recently, I've had stomach issues where every day I'm in pain. I've been to the ER 4 times in a month. Primary doctor sends for the wrong consult adding time to an already two month wait. G.I. Doctor makes it sound like it's nothing, another doctor tells me the results are serious. Go through more testing only to be given no answer if it's serious or not. Told to set up a general surgery consult. They are booked two months out and can't even schedule an appointment. STOP PRETENDING YOU GIVE A DAMN! STOP THANKING ME FOR MY SERVICE! STOP PRETENDING YOU CARE ABOUT THE PTSD THAT HAS RUINED MY LIFE BECAUSE WHEN YOU GIVE ME ADDITIONAL STRESS YOU DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE NIGHTMARE I LIVE! I once loved my country, I lost much proving that love. When I see one of the many tattered flags in Iowa, as there are many, I stop and even offer to pay to replace them. That love was only one-sided though and places like this are why I plan to leave and never return. Bureaucrats will only get rich off of the blood of soldiers and veterans surviving is expensive. Cut costs in the hospitals and you'll reduce the population. May God have mercy on the souls of those who make promises, neglect veterans as they beg for help, and fight your never-ending wars. This hospital brings great shame to this country and so does every VA hospital like this one."
"The doctors here are not only friendly, they are also efficient. My carpeltunel release surgery took all of ten minutes and I didn't feel a thing. The prep for it took way longer than the surgery itself. They even got me something to drink afterwards. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because parking can be a nightmare."
"Far better than most VA systems for on-site care. I have been a VA patient in Hawaii, Virginia and now Iowa, and they do a solid job here. Ask your provider for their direct office or department number, or use the myhealthevet secure messaging system, because they don't have the staff to answer the phones. That being said its a healthcare system not a customer service department so gotta cut some slack. I am happy with the providers I have had and the healthcare staff I have worked with. Only exceptions / complaint being one male phlebotomist who couldn't get a stick on Dwayne Johnson - you know who you are."
"There are a couple of shady individuals working at this place one is Carlos Medina. He is currently being investigated by the Coralville Police Department for writing a bad check to my company for over $1300."
"Very friendly, helpful staff. Every doctor and nurse we've worked with has been amazing. Didn't give 5 stars because the pop machines are all Coke now. It's a hospital and the only diet pop option is diet Coke. Or Dasani water. No diet Sprite. So it's a bit biased against diabetics. The cafeteria leaves a lot to be desired. The company they contract with is way over priced and the food is, at best, bland. The only redeeming quality is that you have a large selection of beverages. It may sound a little nitpicky, complaining about the pop machines and cafeteria, but often you're stuck here all day, especially if you take the shuttle. Better food and drink options would make it more comfortable."
