Casa Agave Mexican Cuisine

"Decided to visit the new Mexican restaurant in Altoona. It was busy but there were plenty of empty tables and we were seated immediately. We waited about 15 minutes for the host to come over and take our drink order and he returned quickly with the water and soda but the House Margarita took another 15 minutes. Finally, they took our food order. We requested more chips and salsa as we were sitting there for a while and ran out, they brought that out right before we got our food. I will say the salsa was fantastic. I ordered the Hawaiian Fajitas and the wife ordered the Altoona Special. The Fajitas were a hit the shrimp were a good size and very flavorful. The wife liked the Special but the put a sauce over the chimichangas which made them soggy and something in the meat chimichanga was rather spicy for her. I give being a new restaurant to the service issues. The food was good but nothing stood out from the numerous other Mexican restaurants in town. The one con was the needed to turn the heat on as it was extremely cold in the restaurant to the point my wife put her gloves on. We will return, hoping the cons get better."

"Visited a week after their opening at 6:30 on a Saturday night. We were told the food might be a little delayed (place was packed). Our server(Cintia) was great; cheerful, quick with fresh chips and refills. Salsa and cheese dip were excellent. Food took no longer than I expected. It was hot, well spiced and generously portioned. We look forward to trying more of the menu."

"Molcajete was wonderful. Think of it as a bowl full of yummy. Beef, shrimp, chicken, chorizo, cactus,... It didn't even matter that they were not yet selling alcohol."
