Reviews
"This course has a very nice layout and some truly beautiful views and holes. The staff is very good. That said, the greens were a great disappointment. On a scale of 1-10, I would gime them a 3."
"A lower mid-level course. Tee boxes are uneven and spotty. The fairways have a mixture of grasses not all being good grass for golf and often have bare spots in the middle of the fareway. Roots stick up in lots of places. The greens are filled with weeds which they have treated but also have bare and dry spots. The cups all looked like they were 3 or 4 days old and had rounded lips. A better course than most munies. Good layout and for the price not a bad course. Two years after that review I can only give it 2 stars instead of 3. Greens are almost unplayable. Huge areas of bad patches on some. Large bare areas. Lots of weeds. However for the $40 senior rate still better than the Pali Muni for sure. Too bad. Course could be pretty nice."
"Probably the worst golf course I’ve ever played. Went there with a group of 8. They didn’t have any rentals for us. We had to scramble around there shop ourselves for clubs and wait for other golfers to be done to use those clubs. Had nothing in the pro shop, no restaurant didn’t have much. Paid like 1,400$ for all of us and by far the worst course on this island"
"Olomana has been a course where locals LOVED to play. Lots of birdieable holes with a couple of par 5s where eagles are possible. The course used to be packed on the weekends and if you were lucky enough to score a good tee time, you'd have to park in the auxiliary parking behind the cart barn. Prior to the infamous buyout to the now-defunct Pacific Links, Olomana had a few unfortunate incidents where some fairways got flooded due to improper flood control measures downstream. Corona and the bank's foreclosure after Pacific Link's exit didn't help either. Now, to make back the losses, Olomana needs to charge a greens fee that is far greater than the course is worth. Neglect and the lack of knowledgeable greens keepers has the putting surface on some holes looking like it has different species of weed growing. Some greens look like patches of sod was replaced, leaving areas looking like a botched skin graft. I see signs of improvement in the form of new golf carts, but more emphasis should be put into the fairways and greens. Yesterday, we booked the first twilight at $47 and while the course was absolutely empty in front of us, there were hoards of golfers behind us. $47 seems to be the magic number for this course. Ditch the weekend twilight and make it $47 all day, and I will bet this course will come back to it's glory days. It certainly is not worth the $67 they're charging now. *Prices are kama'aina, the pillar of support for local businesses"
"Nice layout, green fairways, greens are a little spotty, and price is on average for kaimaina rates. Fairways are green but kind of thick, no real rollout, kind of weedy. Beautiful backdrop of the koolau's mountain range. I would rate this kind of middle of the pack of public courses."
