"I visited this place 25 years ago and was blown away, this weekend I revisited with my oldest son and his friends and found it preserved just as it was so many years prior,,, its amazing what humans can accomplish when they want to,,, an amazing place with stunning views, this is a bucket list place to visit, the journey is half the adventure."

This location is at the mid point of a lengthy 4x4 trail that requires research on routes and excellent vehicle preparation and knowledge before traveling. The historic salt tram timber works is a historic engineering marvel at the top of the ridge and all buildings and constructions are to be viewed and respected without any damage or vandalism."

"Visiting the Salt Tram is one of the highlights of an off-road run in the Lone Pine area. The structure was completed on July 2, 1913 and still stands today. It was built to transport salt from the Salene Valley. This is a well kept historical monument. There is a partially restored building near the Salt Tram structure if you need shelter from the elements."
