Lake Mansion
About the Business
The Lake Mansion, located at 201-231 Flint Street in Reno, Nevada, is a historic landmark that offers a glimpse into the rich history of Reno and Northern Nevada. Designed by John S. Sturgeon and built by William Marsh in 1877, the Mansion was later purchased by Reno's founder, Myron Lake, in 1879. Over its 100 years as a residence, the Mansion has undergone changes in ownership and modifications that reflect the evolving landscape of Reno.
Featuring Italianate architecture with a sloping roof, overhanging eaves, a widow's walk, and recessed doorways, the Lake Mansion is a stunning example of 19th-century design. Originally standing at the corner of California Avenue and Virginia Street, the Mansion was moved to its current location at Arlington Avenue and Court Street in 2004.
Visitors can now explore the history and architecture of the Lake Mansion through a virtual tour, made possible by a grant from the Historic Reno Preservation Society. Led by knowledgeable guide Sharon Honig-Bear, the virtual tour offers a unique opportunity to learn about the families who lived in the Mansion and the role it played in shaping the history of Reno.

"Old and unique building"
"Just a real old house, but interesting though."
"I feel like the name of it is like those click-bait YouTube video titles. I’m wondering who called this tiny building “mansion”. Nothing too extraordinary or exciting about this place."
