"Omg beautiful. People have to hike and travel for days to see scenery like this elsewhere. Awesome waitress’ and staff. We were a huge group. We filled the place, all at the same time and they served us well."
"My wife has been coming to Virginia lakes since she was a teenager. After we married, she introduced me to the place. I fell in love with the area and the resort. Bear in mind this a rustic fishing resort, a no-frills place. If you want frills go to Mammoth instead. If you are looking for a fishing, hiking or horseback riding place without parallel give it a try. I highly recommend the cabins by the lake. Waking up and seeing a beautiful lake and a mountain out your window is a wonderful way to start your day. Carolyn's pie is to die for but be early as it goes fast. We missed out one day, and my wife was heartbroken. She did recover the next day after an injection of berry pie! I have stayed there twice now for a week each time. I will be retuning on a regular basis from here on out."
"One star is too high of a rating for this so called “resort.” This place is overpriced, under-kept, and badly managed by very poorly-mannered owners. Carolyn and John Webb, the owners of the property, shouldn’t be in the hospitality business. From the moment my partner and I checked in, they made us feel like we were a nuisance. We asked for ONE extra towel and Carolyn put up a fight for several minutes saying that there’s no reason for two people to have THREE towels during our stay. Anytime we entered the lodge to buy fishing supplies or food (which was consistently poorly made and overpriced) or ask a simple question, they would either ignore us or begrudgingly help us out several minutes later (even when we were the ONLY people in the lodge). Don’t stay here if you enjoy cleanliness. The bathroom sink hot water barely trickled out of the faucet and the shower was jury-rigged from rusty sheet metal. The lighting was so dim that when you closed the shower curtain, you couldn’t see a thing. We had to hang one of our waterproof lanterns in the shower just to see what soap bottle we were reaching for. My partner has done humanitarian trips in Kenya and she said they had nicer showers than this dump. The only nice employee was a young woman named Sarah. We witnessed the owners yell at her on multiple occasions, but she was a very sweet person. We just hope she gets paid enough to put up with their abusive management. The lakes and hiking trails are beautiful, but we recommend finding another place to stay during your vacation."
"One of the most beautiful, rustic resorts I've visited. Most importantly, the owner, Carolyn, is incredible. Even though we weren't staying there nor were big spenders, she took the time to help with where to stay, hike and most importantly, where and how to fly fish. She even give me her favorite flies and insisted I not pay! Who does that anymore?"
"Awesome water hole. Pros: Plenty of space. Plenty of rocks to hold poles, and holds a nice breeze. Cons: because of the breeze can create choppy waters. Will go back again. The little Virginia lake was stocked. We were told that 3 out of the 4 hatcheries were closed this year (2020) and the little Virginia Lake was the place to go."
