"The best properties and location for my family! Sean - (owner) is a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend!!!"
"We originally booked a cabin for 3 nights with Agate Bay Properties through Airbnb but due to the Lake Tahoe fires, evacuations, and shutdowns, could not make our reservation. Sean was professional, understanding, responsive, and accommodating throughout the entire situation. With the tons of horror stories of hosts putting money above ethics and visitors, working with Sean and Agate was a breath of fresh air and very much appreciated. Would book again 10/10. Thanks again, Sean."
"Rented a place for a week...no access to the community pool. Would have been ok (maybe) but they didn't tell us until after we arrived. Would've been nice to know in advance..."
"Beware of renting the Bagley cabin at 5754 Victoria Road in Carnelian Bay. Had a big problem dealing with the property manager Sean, but according to him the bigger issue lies with the owner who decides what compensation you get after a bear breaks into your rental. I had booked this property for 5 nights at the end of August, which is dog friendly as well, and we had a bear break into the house in the middle of the night thru a half open window. This area is no stranger to bears, as all the houses have bear boxes for the trash to go in and it is not recommended to leave food in your car since they might break in. Luckily no one was hurt as the bear left the house, though it did try and come back thru the back door. I let Sean know what happened the next day and he just had a no harm no foul attitude before cutting our conversation short saying he would call me right back. He did not, so after 5 hours I called him back and he had the same attitude, not offering to comp a nites stay or move us to a different property. I had to convince him to do so. In the past we had stayed at a different property and we had the water shut off for a few hours to fix the plumbing, of which we were comped a nites stay no questions asked for what is a MINOR inconvenience. Having a bear break into our rental is far beyond a minor inconvenience. Either way, I received an email the next day showing a refund of $100, not even a 1/3 of a nites rate which was $352. It took a couple of days to get ahold of Sean to voice my displeasure and he explained that the owners decide what to refund. So apparently a lot of the blame is due to the owner of the house not caring at all. He told me he would talk to them again and if he couldn't convince the owner for additional refund he would take it out of his own commission. Fast forward a month later and I have yet to hear from Sean or receive an additional refund. I call both numbers and email him for a week before I hear anything. He responds "who's this?", needless to say it was infuriating. He obviously was dodging me from the beginning and only caved once I called him out on it. So eventually a week later I get an additional refund of $150 apparently from his commission. All in all I got refunded $250 out of the $1760 I spent for 5 nites which as I said comes to $352 a nite. The whole ordeal was a nightmare from beginning to end. I will continue to vacation in Lake Tahoe, but will steer clear of Sean and Agate Bay properties if I can."
"Great selection of rental properties within Agate Bay, many with access to the Agate Bay Sun Club (pool and snack bar) and the Agate Bay private pier. We've been renting summer vacation places from them for years. Highly recommended."
