"Sorry long post. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! Had a horrible experience just last week. We made a reservation for a 2019 Nissan Rouge. Got a confirmation number for this SPECIFIC car. I called the next day and it went straight to text. I should have known communication was going to be a problem. Businesses should answer phone calls, not reply via text only. I inquired about a toddler car seat and was told they didn't rent them out. That was OK, we were just asking to cut down on our baggage. Was asked for our confirmation number. Once I replied, I received no further texts. When we arrived in Maui, we got to the car and it was a small, beat up hatchback with bald tires!! We are a family of 5 with a toddler. There wasn't enough room for our 1 suitcase 2 carry ons and small stroller. We contacted the company again and they gave us a line that there was a recall on the Nissan so they replaced it with "another SUV". First, why not say that to us when we FIRST contacted them 2 days before? Second a hatchback is NOT an SUV. My husband told them this wasn't an SUV and asked for another car but was told nothing was available. He asked for at least a price adjustment, which should have been OFFERED, since this clearly is not the same vehicle type, and was told they'd have to cancel everything. We would have no car then and we were stuck with our 3 kids and luggage away from the airport. We finally got our luggage to fit by removing the back cover but we had to drive with it resting on top of the carseat and the driver and front passenger head rests. Once we started driving, the airbag light kept coming on. We hated our experience with this company and unlike many others, we were not able to afford to cancel and rebook with someone else. Once we got to our hotel, we left the car there and took a trolley to local places. We didnt get to see much of the island but we did the best for our kids. Honestly, don't waste your money, time, or energy on these guys. Really disappointing"

"DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, USE THIS COMPANY! I found Rent For Less Maui online and they and I communicated by text originally. We were looking for a 12 passenger van for our large family. RFLM had what we were looking for and it was fairly affordable. I filled out the paperwork, made the reservation, and paid the fee. RFLM sent me pick-up directions (take an uber from the airport to the office) and we thought all was good. Lo and behold, we flew into Kahului and I took an Uber to the office - only to find it locked up with no one there. I could see the van inside the gate, but the gate was padlocked. I called. No answer. I texted. No response. After nearly 30 minutes while my family was waiting at the airport, I received a call from a gentleman who rudely told me to check my email and hung up. So, I checked my email. Nothing. Again, I called and texted. Finally, he same gentleman called back. He asked my last name and told me the reservation had been canceled. No reason why, no explanation. Just that it had been canceled and there was nothing he could do, then he hung up again. So, Rent For Less Maui had canceled my reservation, did not inform me either by text, email, or phone, and left me and my family stranded in Maui. Fortunately, we found two minivans with a reputable company for about the same price and were able to enjoy a vacation. But, it was a frustrating start."

"After a lot of research I contacted Rudy and arranged for a rental of a full size car. To our delighted surprise at pick up we were upgraded to a VW SUV which nicely accommodated our group of 4. A taxi to the pick up location cost 20$ but the savings you get by renting with this company makes up for it. They expect the car to be returned clean but that wasn’t An issue if you are a bit careful Cost us 75cents to vacuum it. if you have time drop everyone at the airport and it’s A mere 3 km walk back to the airport. I would Recommend Rentforless. Great experience."

"Second time renting from Rent for Less Maui and it will not be the last. We visit family in Maui every year. Excellent price compared to the major rental companies. Super easy pick up from a lock box at their lot a short cab ride from the airport. Pick up inspection is all done self serve and communication via text message. They respond quickly to questions. Car was clean. Returning the car was quick. Just park outside the lot and drop key in Dropbox."

"I was looking for a more affordable but still reliable option to get around the island and Rent For Less did not disappoint! I needed flexible pick up and drop off time and everywhere else wanted to charge more. I recommend taking a Uber/Taxi/Lyft there and back from the airport. It cost less than $15 each way (which you make up for by going with a cheaper rental place.) I didn't have to see anyone. I was able to pick up the car easily and return it. Communication was clear and responsive from them via text message. Just let them know what's up and they'll do the same. The car itself ran great! It was very reliable and got me around the island which was all I needed. Nothing fancy but not a beater. They did charge (not hold) a $290 security deposit in addition to my rental fee which they refunded back to me once I returned it. So, don't be surprised by that. I would definitely use them again!"
