"If I could give Thrifty zero stars I would…long story short I rented a car and was asked if I wanted to prepay fuel. I declined and said I will fill it myself. The attendant then told me no problem if you bring it back full we will automatically refund your fuel prepay. I then confirmed with her again that if I brought it back with a full tank my $137.53 would be refunded. Which she said yes. Vacation is all finished I fuel the car bring it back to the rental office where I showed 2 individuals the car was full of fuel. I asked one of them when I will get my refund and she told me it will automatically return the charge in a day or two. The next day I received my final statement with the fuel charge still on there. I called and emailed and was essentially told sorry for the misunderstanding but customers who prepay fuel should bring the car back as empty as possible. Have a nice day. There was no misunderstanding I was straight up lied to…I don’t recommend Thrifty save yourself the haste and pick another company. I will not be using Thrifty/Hertz ever again."
"Absolutely DO NOT rent from this car agency. They will SCAM you on the gas fee. It is criminal. I was told multiple times in person by the Thrifty employee that their gas fee was the "best deal in town" because I would only be charged if I returned the car empty. I rented the car for an entire month and after a safe return (and the car was returned full) I find out that on their website...in the fine print it says they don't do refunds for the gas fee. Thrift STOLE $88 dollars from me. I then found our there is NO WAY to reach a human via their phone tree of waste-your-time and now they are asking for me to "produce a recipt that will be deducted from the SCAM $88 fee". Do. Not. Give. This. Company. Your. Money. Note: -they also tried to rent me a minivan that reeked of smoke. And then said they didn't have any other mini vans so I had to take a different car that was less nice. -they also threatened me with trying to buy an extra insurance telling me that if I got hit by another car I would be responsible for a FULL rental rate though the time it took the car to be repaired."
"Absolute worst car rental experience I’ve ever had! 1 star is too high of a rating. This company is Very unorganized, there were over 30 people waiting for cars, apparently the cars aren’t cleaned until they are rented so we waited 2+ hours for our car to be cleaned, we watched it be cleaned and then our car never showed up. We asked the front desk people about our car and they couldn’t find it and said it was driven to the other location. We waited and waited, finally we saw our car pull into the parking lot, no one was around to deliver the car, we couldn’t find anyone to help we walked all over the property and couldn’t find anyone to bring our car to us. Finally we got our car 2.5 hours later. Also, the employees didn’t make eye contact or answer questions the 2+ hours we were waiting, one employee completely ignored us and didn’t even turn his head or stop to answer our questions. Overall awful. We will never be back."
"On our last day at Hawaii, we were supposed to spend it at the beach before our flight. On our way there. The car we rented from thrifty broke down. We spent hours on the phone with them trying to get them to come get us. The only thing they would do is send a tow truck, and leave us seven girls with all of our luggage stranded on the side of the road, they said they cannot get a car big enough for us so I told them to send two cars and they said they couldn’t. In between the disconnected calls in the waiting on hold, we called 911 for help. They said they would try to get through to thrifty. And all they could do is get a tow truck there also so we almost missed her flight due to having to stop so many times so the car cool down so we could then drive it like another half an hour. When we got to the car rental return, we try to talk to a manager. And all they said is they do not have phones there, and I need a case number and I need to talk to corporate. So after that horrible experience I still have not gotten any return phone calls for anyone to talk to me about how I ruined. Our last day was there we were there for my daughter‘s 18th birthday party. For the next two days I kept getting calls from thrifty threatening me saying I never return their car and they were going to go after me. They left a voicemail with a phone number called the phone number back told him I gave the keys to the lot lady and they said they would take care of it but then I got a call again the next day no idea what that lot ladies with the keys but I gave him back there broke car"
