"Came in tonight to celebrate our honeymoon and WOW, so glad we did! Making reservations on Yelp was super easy! Everyone there was so friendly and welcoming and we got a great view for dinner. Our server, Brad, was phenomenal! He gave us some wonderful recommendations and was super attentive! Food was the best we've had all week! So good we are good back before we leave! What we got (and we recommend it ALL) - kalua pork rolls - ribs - seafood trio - kanpachi - flourless chocolate cake - lilikoi cheesecake Get it all and thank us later."
"Two couples went out on a splurge and enjoyed a few different items. Clam chowder was excellent as was the rosemary bread -said our friends. The guys ordered seafood trio dishes which were comprised of: ahi tuna, a crab cake and two legs-on coconut shrimp! Southwest salad and scallops were enjoyed by the gals. It is a pretty casual spot with lots of tables and an open window view of the ocean. Not fancy but good."
"This is fine dining in the form of a sport's bar. The food was delicious, but pricey. It was fun watching the surfing competition on the televisions, and we enjoyed the open-air restaurant. I would not recommend this for children."
"I brought my wife and in laws here to treat them to an upscale dinner on our last night in Kona. The reviews and pictures looked great, so we were very excited and had high expectations. Unfortunately, ALL of the food was incredibly mediocre and lacking flavor even though it was plated beautifully. I thought maybe it was just the appetizers I chose (crab cakes that were the worst I’ve had on the island, and clam chowder that I can make better myself), but then the entrees came (2 surf and turfs, a seafood trio and a lobster) and it tasted like they didn’t even put salt on anything. It was the biggest disappointment of my entire vacation, and we ended up sending our entrees back and going elsewhere to pick up food. On top of that, the manager insisted she’d never heard anybody have that response, & seemed very skeptical and rude about it without even an apology for our poor experience. We certainly will never come back to this place, and it will be remembered as the worst place we went during our week on the big island."
"Went to Jackie Rey’s to celebrate my birthday while on the island and had a nice and enjoyable meal. The atmosphere is a bit more upscale (and very blue) with a large bar and open air windows. Definitely a bit more of an upscale feel. Dinner was tasty all around but probably just ordered the wrong thing. The Alfredo was yummy but could have used more of it so next time I would probably go with the lamb shank. Pork spring rolls were pretty good as an appetizer! Things came out reasonably quickly and plating looked nice. Also looked to have a pretty considerable wine selection if that’s what you’re into. All in all tasty, and definitely one of the nicer meals you can probably have in the area. Just stick to ordering the seafood and you’ll enjoy!"
