"The only pet friendly cabins in Itasca State Park and really close to the headwaters! I stayed in cabin 12 and it was perfect for 1-2 people."
"Excellent experience! Stayed in cabin 7. In truth it’s more of a six person than an 8 person cabin. Sleeping spots 7 & 8 are the futon in the living room/ kitchen. For us it was fine since 4 of our party were kids. Nice porch both screened and not, well stocked kitchen, nice sized fridge, shower/bath. All the things that Itasca park has to offer."
"Wonderful cabins within the state park boundaries. Nice kitchen amenities, beds were comfortable, pillows were nice, the entire cabin was clean up on arrival. Very impressed and will be back! It's a short drive to the headwaters, probably the closest lodging option in the park if that's what you're there to see."
"We stayed for 2 nights in Cabin 4 at Bert's Cabins in Itasca State Park. We took our 3 small dogs with us to stay at the cabin so we could all go hiking to the headwaters and around the park. Not all of the cabins are pet friendly so it's important to let the park know you are bringing dogs so they can put you in the correct cabin. (Otherwise it is stated on the website that your reservation will be canceled if you show up with a dog and you have not reserved a dog friendly cabin.) I was amazed at the amenities in the cabin! It had everything we could possibly need for our stay. The only thing we needed to bring with us was food. There was even a toaster and a coffee pot with filters and coffee! It was a completely stocked cabin for our every need. It was quiet and peaceful. I would definitely stay there again. There was only one downside to our stay and that was that there are no trails that lead directly from the cabins. We had to drive a short distant to find a trail. (There is one trail a little ways down the main road from the cabins that can be walked to but it requires walking on the main road to get there and it is more of a rustic trail and not particularly well groomed.). Overall a super time in a beautiful little cabin. (Bring bug repellent! Lots of mosquitoes in Itasca!). Would definitely stay there again."
"It turned out to be too long of a day to make the trip back to the Twin Cities comfortable and the draw of nature and the remote quirt of Bert’s Cabins was just what I needed. I had number 11 this time – all to myself and slept 10 hours straight on a very comfortable mattress. During each stay over the years, the cabins are clean, nicely designed, and well-spaced for a sense of privacy. The full kitchen was well-prepared for guests with plates, flatware, coffee, and a coffee pot, as well as excellent cooking utensils. Each cabin has a fire pit nearby and a picnic table for outside meals. Signs were posted to not leave food out. It was a reminder that the bear and raccoons are the permanent residents. Trash bins are neat and close tightly, which was a good idea as there were grunting sounds outside in that direction during the night. Very pleasant accommodations in the midst of some of Minnesota’s most beautifully forestry. Ask someone if you cannot find where to register. I was grateful that my cabin neighbors pointed me in the right direction. They could definitely use more signs for the registration office. But really, all other areas are nicely marked, which is helpful because the whole of Itasca Park covers a large area. Every time I see the MN Mississippi headwaters I feel amazed by the experience. It’s such a powerful statement that powerful things start small."
